We have regularly stayed here over the past few years to attend a Charity Event and the hotel experience has declined year on year. They have remove the reception desk and made it self check in, and it doesn't work! A member of staff had to help just about everyone as they attempted to check in. The rooms are on key cards, and a number of our party had to return to the lobby as they didn't open the room door. This year they have started charging £3 for car parking, on top of the room rate, which really leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. I was charged a different amount for a pint of Amstel at two different bars in the hotel, not sure what that is all about. We arrived at our room and the door was propped open by a towel, which we thought was a little odd. We realised after we had checked in that the door frame had just been painted and was still wet, with no wet paint sign displayed. We were given another room but the window didn't fit and we could hear the traffic and the wind outside. On the plus side, the Event and the food was good, including the breakfast. We wouldn't return to this hotel if it wasn't for the Charity Event.

Great venue for the bareknuckle event. Parking fees is very unfair as people pay for their rooms so why should they be charged parking. Drinks overpriced. Friendly staff but short staffed on bars for such a large event.

Don’t use the auto check in when your booking is pre paid or to be chargedBack to your company as you will be charged again. Car parking is not free even for hotel guests.. you have to hunt out the one working screen to log your car into the system.. most unhelpful Check in staff Who don’t know how to use their own check in system And made out it was my fault that I’d been charged twice. Beds comfy but rooms tired. Noisy fan in bathroom that does not turn off.

Good things: - perfect location just off the motorway - ample parking space - good sized room - decoration was lovely - very firm mattress and huge duvet! - staff was friendly and helpful - powerful shower! - room was very quiet - electric heating warmed the room up really quick Things we didn't like: - paid parking (£3 for 18hrs) - self check in / out (lack of traditional reception) - carpets in main hall and hallway were dirty and overall hotel didn't feel clean - elevator does a scary drop everytime it stops - no biscuits with Tea in room - building lacks character compared to some of the other hotels and doesn't feel 4-star Would stay again if it's the cheaper option. 4-star rating because of the location and price.

Not good for the price, rooms basic and bathroom could have been cleaner, paid £10 extra for vegan breakfast and got hash browns and backed beans. Staff were helpful but busy with all the events going on. Won't go again

Booked for a special family afternoon tea and boy were we disappointed. Even though we were booked there wasn't a table and we were left in the foyer with 2 tables pushed together. Food was poor and service was low standard. Some staff were helpful and did their best in less than ideal conditions. A big let down, definitely would not go here again.
