We stayed for a midweek break. Fabulous room. Very comfortable. Quiet and warm. The reception people were great. I tried to blah a sweetie thing they were preparing for an event with no success, but when I got back at the end of the day, there was one in the room. Brilliant light touch. It's just a short walk into the town via the shops, or over the city walls. Highly recommend this place. Will he going again.

We didn't stay; we ate in the restaurant for my father's 70th birthday celebration. The restaurant staff were attentive, patient and went out of their way to help however they could: when I needed somewhere quiet to breastfeed my daughter, staff ensured that I was looked after. They deserve medals for being patient with my daughter and her giddiness! The food was delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. Thank you for making my father's meal a success. I'm just sorry I couldn't leave a bigger tip.

Very decent. Polite, friendly and professional staff - very helpful. Parking to the rear and then just a five minute (if that) walk to the city walls and into the centre. Excellent room, top breakfast. Great building too.

We've stayed before a few times, never had a problem in the deluxe rooms. This time we stayed in the standard room which was incredibly hot (we even had the windows open and it was November!) air con didn't work, there was no cold tap water, so we had a terrible night's sleep and had to drink the bottled water which was charged at £5.50 per bottle. To top it off they booked the gardeners to come blow the leaves around at 8am, which was a lovely wake up call on our night off work and looking forward to a good sleep in, 2leaf blowers outside your window at 8am when you've got the windows wide open due to the heating being on full the whole night. Probably wouldn't stay again, if we did we would stay in the deluxe again, as we've had no problems there in the past.

Very nice restaurant, but... Hard to describe really but was devoid of atmosphere, probably because it was practically empty. Odd for a Saturday night when I had booked 6 weeks in advance to get a table. Got a weird look when I said we were not a resident, like we should not have been there. Food and service was very good and it was not overly expensive, just a bit stuffy. Seems to be geared towards residents, in which case, don't take bookings from anyone else.

Away from the center of town means it's a quiet location, while still walking distance to the city walls. Plush hotel with plenty of parking. Service was very friendly. Breakfast good, though we didn't have any cooked items. In the end, we thought it a tad overpriced given the amenities on offer in the rooms. Otherwise it would have earned another star. But definitely worth a look if staying in York for a short stay as it's a bit more intimate than the larger hotels in the middle of town.
