What a wonderful place to celebrate walking on the Roman wall as it is at the end of one of the best sections of this walk. Pleasant garden area. Try the "Landlord" T. Taylor ale.

We received a lovely warm welcome as soon as we arrived! We were quite early but there was no problem leaving the bags there until check in time. We stayed in a Superior room which overlooks the beer garden. The room was well equipped and quiet-hardly any noise from the garden or other guests. Breakfast was big and plenty of it! We ate in the bar area -the bar is small but very clean, and the food was lovely. Nothing was a trouble for the staff. Great location! My only suggestion is that the bed could have been a little comfier, but I would definitely come back again!

Nice enough place to stay and a great location however it was massively overpriced at 290 quid for two people in a double room. The room was really basic aswell so I guess we had paid for the location more than anything. I would have given a 3 star rating if the price was more reasonable.

Amazing service considering the rules. The staff were awesome, very accommodating for us all (including a 6 month old!). We only had some small plates for food, but they were all really tasty. I'd recommend this place if you'd like a good atmosphere with the current restrictions and I'll be going back when the rules relax too.

Came here by chance quite late around 8:30pm and thought the rear beer garden was secluded and atmospheric. Except very cold . Initially we sat waiting for a table and after asking the waitresses we didn't get too much attention, however later a young waiter managed to find a table and offered a bottle of Barolo at a good price for our wait. He changed the situation around I felt and his good service and the great food , much better than expectation made this cold night a enjoyable one. The lamb was one of the best I've had. Recommended

A quaint pub with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Overnight stay featured a very comfy bed and a superb cooked breakfast. On the downside the shower wasn't up to much and the room was fairly small - when factoring in the room price. Of course in the lead up to Christmas- and the pubs location- this is the price you have to pay. Outside it was noisy into the early hours which is something to be aware of.

Fantastic lunch.... we didn't make a reservation, but managed to get a table outside. This suited as it was such a beautiful day. Service was relaxed and efficient. Food was delicious, so much so we had dessert and cheese after.... (these are the only pictures I took). Highly recommended *****

Great little spot. Booked at table at 8pm, the first time going here since lockdown 3.0. Standing flame heaters all over, blankets and parasols. Excellent attentive service and great food. They really nailed reopening on a busy weekend. One minor point, they have a temperature check machine on entry but no one is managing it so I watched many people not use it at all and one person failed the temperature check and then just went in anyway.
