Great hotel could do with this one down London when I am there for work. Hats off to the young waiter at the bar manning it solo last Wednesday and the chef, catered for my mum who had a gluten intolerance. Recommended to friends and family and will be back soon longer next time. It is also easy walking distance to York center with brilliant family rooms in the lodge across the road.

Elmbank was so delightful. We visited for a couple of days in early January. Our room was full of character greeting us with lush new renovations. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones I have been in and came in great use as I was also unwell for part of my stay. If you booked the room with the bath, this was delightful as well. The design was very well thought out and reflected the building very well. They left us a lovely message and surprise on arrival as we were celebrating a milestone. We were a short walk to the York walls and not much further into the city. Excellent value for money in my opinion. Had a lovely stay.

I've stayed here on business many times and it's just incredibly inconsistent. Some stays my room has been nice and the food good quality. Others the room has been ridiculously small and the food quality varies massively. Waiting over 45 minutes for an order when the restaurant is nearly empty, the portion sizes changing massively etc. In summary you never know if you'll have a good or bad experience when booking this place.

This stay was a gift for our anniversary. Lovely hotel very spacious room but sadly lacking in space to put your clothes half the wardrobe taken up with fridge ect and no drawers at all so had to leave my things in the suitcase. You were supposed to hang a notice on the outside of your door if you wanted the room cleaned but didn't have one to hang I kinda got the feeling the over enthusiastic cleaning staff had removed them so they didn't have to work to hard. That said the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Would go again.

Room doesn't match the amazing decor and standard of hotel it was functional and tired, the heating was temperamental and there was some black mould in bedroom, shower almost overflowed! We were not aware this was the room booked when looking at photos! The main hotel was beautiful, decor superb and staff lovely. The breakfast was abundant hot cold and good choice. The food itself was lovely. The location of the hotel was ideal for a short walk into the centre, parking limited but we managed to get a space for the weekend. If we had been in the main hotel it may have been a better review but cannot say for sure. I don't know if I'd go again but definitely wouldn't if stuck there again!!

Stayed at the Elmbank early August and had the best stay! It’s a hidden gem! Our room was a deluxe room furnished in Art Deco style that was just so beautiful and welcoming. Loved the colour theme and couldn’t fault a thing. The staff were super helpful, from the receptionist, the bar staff the restaurant staff and the cleaners everyone made us feel special. There is a lovely bar, and outdoor seating which is ideal for the lovely warm evenings we’ve had lately but the best part for me, apart from the room, was the amazing food. Definitely the best three course meal I’ve had, so delicious and professionally laid out like a work of art. The chef is truly fabulous. Unfortunately we were only there for one night but can’t wait to stay again and sample other things on the menu. It’s in such a fabulous location, just a 15 minute walk into the centre of York, and has its own car park. The walk into York also take you past lots of lovely pubs and bars to pop in and have a drink on the way! I can’t recommend this place enough.

Had a fantastic one night stay here 19th December. The hotel itself was very clean and the room had very comfy beds. The bar also has A great selection of drinks. I’d also like to mention the two members of staff - Ash and Chris - who really went above and beyond for us on our stay. I can’t wait to come back.

This is the most fun hotel I’ve ever been in, an assault on the senses both visually and smell. This place is absolutely stunning inside, from the moment you walk through reception, down the vibrant blue corridors and into a room plucked straight from my dreams. Every single piece of furniture is beautiful, the decor is stunning, the bathrooms look like they belong on a magazine cover and even the general toilets available to everyone for use look like the most perfect piece of modern history. I can’t comment on the food here as the Brasserie was unfortunately fully booked but based on the level of customer service we received and how spotlessly clean this hotel is is like to hazard a guess at the food being pretty decent to. Plenty of parking available at a rate of £12.50 for 24 hours (school car park right nextdoor) , very short walk to the centre of York.
