Oh my word, what can I say, Blackwell is a beacon for the arts and crafts movement. It is utterly beautiful. We went on a very cold and frosty day and it was so lovely and warm both in it's welcome from the helpful staff and the temperature and decor. I was constantly surprised by the quality of the decor, Morris, De Morgan etc, even a sketch by Ruskin! Blackwell was very quiet and calm and I know that my child who has autism would have loved it too. Highly recommended!

Fascinating and beautifully preserved home with lovely views over the lake. I didn't know a lot about the arts and crafts movement, so the information in each room was really useful. I particularly enjoyed the display from when the house was used as a school, the photos and memories of former students were charming. Great gift shop, especially if you're looking for something unique or special. We had a coffee in the cafe, which also had a nice looking selection of scones and lunch options.

This Arts and Crafts House is amazing in every way. Visiting is a joy. The house itself is presented as a work of art. There is time to sit and absorb the unique atmosphere. Views from the windows to the Coniston Fells are not to be missed.

My wife and I have been to Blackwell before about 5yrs ago and we were very impressed then. Our second visit today has done nothing to change our minds, we thought the whole package was wonderful and just goes to show what encredibly skilled craftsmen and women were around 120yrs ago. Not forgetting the delicious food served up in the tea room by the very pleasant staff. Mr Holt was a very fortunate man to be able to afford to buy the estate and finance the building of a house as beautiful as Blackwell

Really quirky inside. Loved looking at the carvings and all of the art and craft work. Worth the entrance money. It was raining when we went so did not look at the grounds, but the views from the House were stunning
