Not very hard to get too. Nice view. only problem would be that the information plaques are by the multiple, wide spread entrances that are surrounded by mud. It would have been nicer if they were closer to the stones or at least all together. Other than that a great place to stop of at and recommend.

Well worth visiting, though only for 10 minutes. The circle itself is not that awe-inspiring but the views, even on a bad day, are wonderful.

Although on the face of it there is not a lot there it's more a case of quality rather than quantity. The ancient stone circle is so special that you really don't need anything else ( the information boards are useful though !). Well worth a visit as part of a walk or a tour of the area. Simply amazing to think that they managed to build this over 4500 years ago .

Parking is easy in the layby opposite the site. Parking and entry are free. The filed can be quite muddy especially after a big rain. The site itself is in a beautiful location, with the mountains in the background. The site doesn't offer much, can be walked around in 5 minutes, but it has a magical atmosphere. There are information boards at the entrances.

Castlerigg Stone Circle was constructed as a part of a megalithic tradition that lasted from 3,300 to 900 BC, during the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Ages. Various archaeologists have commented positively on the beauty and romance of the Castlerigg ring and its natural environment. Every year, thousands of tourists travel to the site, making it the most visited stone circle in Cumbria. If you visit Lake District you don't have to miss Castlerigg Stone Circle especially if is a sunny day.

A truly picturesque location especially if you manage to get there for sunset. The circle is surrounded by beautiful silhouettes of mountains. We were there when the sky created a stunning pink hue over everything. Really magical. A very interesting place if you're into archaeology, history etc.

Still here after 4500 years and potentially one of the oldest ring stones in the country. If you're in the area don't miss this visit. It is beautiful, peaceful and extraordinary to be in the ring of stones. They say if you count the stones you always count a different number. I think there use to be 42 stones and now there are 38. If you're lucky enough to take a picture of the stones without anyone there, then consider it a fortunate day.
