The place has a worthy 4 star rating. It is spotless. The rooms are clean, modern, very big with a bath and a walk in shower with a HDTV and fridge and iron included. The restaurant has excellent food although very pricey (steak and chips, 2 drinks with a coffee £88+) but the staff and the outside terrace is excellent to eat breakfast and dinner too. Afternoon tea was a nice change (£36 each) very busy so book beforehand. We stayed in a superior room with sea view but unfortunately we got the last room overlooking the restaurant roof with a balcony you could only just turn around in. A notice beforehand would have been appreciated. Medium size car park which sold it for us, but was full and had to wait for a space to be available. Next day it was empty! (Tuesday). A beautiful pricey hotel that was worth the money.

My second visit to this hotel, and I thought maybe with my first visit I just got lucky, but no, this place really is wonderful. Location - about a mile from main Southend pleasure beach. This is ideal for me as you get the peace but also it’s easy to walk to the pier/main attractions etc. View over the estuary is beautiful- esp if you’re able to get a sea view room (totally worth it in my opinion). Food - I LOVE food, so this is a very important part of my stay. Everything I had was amazing, and I even treated myself to room service one night, which was equally delicious. Staff - they treat you like royalty. Nothing is too much trouble & even if there is an issue, they will sort it out pronto! Spa - WONDERFUL, definitely worth booking in for a massage or facial (or something else!) Price - it’s quite punchy when you’re staying in peak season with sea view room plus breakfast….but it is worth every penny! I cannot wait to come back soon!

I attended a wedding on the 31st July and was amazed at the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff that helped make the day so special. They were so accommodating to each and all of our needs. I would like to say a big thank you to the bar tender Jordan who kept us entertained and topped with drink all night. His enthusiasm and bubbly nature with every guest made our evening even more amazing. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff that made the day so special and would highly recommend!!

We tried to make a reservation but after numerous attempts no one answered the phone, we took a chance and just arrived without a booking. We were told the restaurant was fully booked so I explained it would have been a good idea to leave a recorded message to explain this instead of no answer on the phone. This seemed to do the trick and they found a table for us, we enjoyed the delicious food and ambiance as always and the service was impeccable, especially Jasmin.
