I just stayed at The Camelia for 2 nights Bed & Breakfast. Even though it was only a short stay the staff were wonderful. They were all very pleasant and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The hotel was spotlessly clean and my bed was very comfortable. The Camelia is on the Sea Front so a lovely place for families to stay. I only had breakfast there which had plenty of choice and was really lovely and nicely presented. I didn’t have any dinners there but the hotel restaurant was always full so that tells me that the dinners were fantastic too. I will be staying there again when I go back to Southend.

Two day, one night stay late August. Great hotel choice. The room was clean, bed soft and basic amenities were available. We booked dinner in the restaurant. Even if you are not staying at the hotel I would suggest you dine ate the restaurant as the food was delicious. Portions are large but no complaints from me about that. Compliments to the kitchen staf there. Breakfast was another great experience. Customer service from all staff there was excellent. Any little requests we made was fulfilled with politeness and efficiency. The location of the hotel is on point. You are right by the beach and can walk along for the amusement park, shopping centre, arcade, pier train and much more entertainment. Hotel is within walking distance of Southend East station (direction we came from) if you are travelling by transport but they do have a car park should you choose to drive. Overall, I cannot fault this place and would recommend for singles, couples, families and friends. Thank you, Camelia Hotel Southend, for a wonderful stay.

The Camelia restaurant is always a popular place to go to. The small bar area has been transformed to another dining area. Staff is always very nice and welcoming. Food is always quite good although the beef (roast dinner) is too often overcooked - if you like your roast beef medium rare, go for the chicken!
