Great location, if lucky enough to sit upstairs, with its views of Kings, but unfortunately we were in the basement, which was a bit dark and a bit too warm. Interesting menu, supplemented by some specials which included T bone pork chop, which was very good. My partner went for a salmon starter and a cheese cake rather than a main, this was heavy and not very appetising All in all average

Lovely view of the university and the clock. Steak was very tasty. Service was good. Food very tasty and great options. Mash potato good. Had the prawns with the steak which were delicious. Option for salad or chips would be better if salad came as standard. Central Location

Great service, got us a large booth when we could have fit at a small table. Steak was good, but pork could have been juicer (small part juicy, other parts well done and dry). Still a good choice to fill your stomach

From the moment we walked in , we was treated to warm and friendly staff , nothing was ever to much. We had a starter which was filling, great quality and arrived in a timely manor. Cocktails to begin with which was made in front of us, to the cask ale which was a welcomed choice of my dad. The staff were attentive kind and friendly . We was given the option of waiting a few minutes from starter to main which was a nice option. Mains the ham hock was divine - melt in the mouth with a crispy outer, the pie was heaven - the pastry was melt in the mouth. We was too full by the time pudding came- portion size was astounding we just couldn’t manage it but yet they still brought a cake with a candle on for my mums birthday- a welcome surprise. Would we visit again- YES would re recommend YES

The only place in town that seems to do a gluten free sticky toffee pudding! It's very good too. Had the roast pork and you get a crispy crackling top with extra pieces on the side, apple sauce and a gravy with lots of depth and flavour. Great restaurant.

Had a lovely meal here to celebrate my stepdaughter’s graduation the other evening. The food was utterly delicious & the staff as friendly, helpful & welcoming as always. I chose this restaurant to celebrate this special event based on many previous enjoyable visits & it did not disappoint this time either. Great food & wine as always.

Really delicious dinner on 15/11/21 . The pork chop is especially incredible and highly recommend! (I couldn't finish it, but took the rest home with me!) We didn't get our waitress' name, but she was lovely, helpful and attentive and we left feeling very happy with our dining experience!

Great service, wonderful food, perfect location. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Perfect apart from the chips, whilst crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle were too oily.
