Checked until the room at 8.45pm, the corridor was full of fast food wrappers, bottle and rubbish. The bar shut at 10pm and no room service available. If this was all explained in advance and a discount offered then fine, but to charge full price when no facilities available is ridiculous. The only saving grace for this hotel is the reception staff

Even though we only stayed one night. The Experience was overwhelming, From check in to departure; Nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff that we came in contact with. The swimming pool & hot tub were totally fabulous. The leisure club staff on duty were highly professional, they gave people clear & concise directions on the current COVID - 19 Restrictions in place. A highly enjoyable stay at a city centre hotel that you truly wouldn't think was in a city centre. Definitely stay again

Super friendly staff. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Very comfortable bed with great pillows. Great location in the city centre. Slightly tired in places and the towels are on the thinner side. Still recommend, no doubt.

Very poor hygiene standards. Dusty rooms. Black mould and faulty drainage/plumbing in bathrooms. Air-con stopped working. 1 extra star for trying with breakfast-to-go take aways but they were fairly tasteless. A second star for the great location and Exeter is an excellent city break. Manager does not respond to email so if there is a problem it will not be resolved. There are very good hotels in Exeter but this is not one of them.

Nice, comfortable room, good location. Coffee machine and bath robe in the room which is a nice touch. Very poor customer service at the check in. Poor communication whilst I was waiting for a room to be ready, receptionist waving my bank card around whilst there were people standing next to the reception desk, talking to another member of staff (looked like she was training but no communication with myself throughout the whole process which took ages) no explanation how to get to my room, how much I even need to pay, check out times etc, was just shoved the key card and ignored. Definitely not a 4 start hotel service.

Wonderful location, lovely clean spacious room - staff were all very friendly helpful. The lady at reception who had been there for 30 years was exceptional and very helpful. Our 4 nights included a lovely breakfast that was unlimited. The decor and overall reception areas were well thought out. Plenty of parking (£15 a day)- just remember to type your registration into the machine on reception. Would recommend for anyone visiting Exeter. Close to the cathedral and quayside.

We stayed at the hotel the weekend before Christmas. It was a birthday present for my girlfriend that’s combined staying in a hotel and shopping. As we were shopping we arrived early on the Saturday and the friendly receptionist told us that we were able to park our car as part of our stay within the car park. The fact our rooms weren’t ready did not matter to us as we were shopping for the day anyway. After shopping, we checked into the hotel. Once again the receptionist were very helpful and extremely polite. When we arrive to our room it was clean and modern. After about five minutes we had a knock on the door and the porter/waitress brought my partner a bottle of Prosecco chocolates and a birthday card. My girlfriend was astounded by this. The pool was nice. The staff were friendly and we had to book slots for the hot tub and sauna. Getting a slot was no problem. We had a deal where dinner and breakfast that was included in the price. We both ate steak off the menu each night and had a starter. The restaurant was quiet and the waitress and waiter were very polite even though both could do with some training. There was a little confusion about dinner on the first night and our orders got muddled up, however, on the second night they put all this right and the service was excellent. Breakfast was served buffet style and cooked and presented very well. We will definitely stay here again.

2/ 5

The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated, the staff were friendly and helpful which is why it's not a one star review. The issues began when we arrived. We had booked a room with a travel cot for our little one and phoned up the day before to inform the hotel that we would be arriving late and would need the travel cot set up and ready. When we arrived around 10pm there was no cot. The phone in the room didn't work so I went to reception and asked for a cot. 10 minutes later a lovely lady arrived carrying one, but it had no base. She set off to find one whilst I put the cot up. It was broken so I had to fix it first. The lady arrived shortly after with a base for a different cot. (Clearly it was not something she did often, but she was very polite and apologetic, though she shod not have been put in that situation.) We made it work, but there was no bedding, not even extra normal bedding. We rigged up a set up with our little one's blanket but it was a very stressful time when we'd booked everything and checked in advance that it would all be there. We won't be staying in a Mecure again.
