THIS IS A LOVELY PERIOD HOTEL. LATE VICTORIAN / EDWARDIAN WITH ADDED BUILDING. THE WHOLE PLACE LOOKED SUMPTUOUS. BIG SOFA'S AND CHAIRS ETC. VERY NICE BREAKFAST ROOM AND BAR. THE POOL IS ALSO LOVELY. THE ROOMS WERE MORE THAN ADEQUATE. VERY COMFY AND WARM. THE STAFF WERE WELCOMING AND THOUGHTFUL. THEY WENT THE EXTRA MILE TO LOOK AFTER GUESTS. THIS HOTEL IS NOT SUITABLE FOR WHEELCHAIR USERS. THERE IS NO LIFT AND THE GROUND FLOOR HAS DIFERING LEVELS. MY BROTHER AND I ENJOYED THE RELAXING ATMOSPHERE. WELL DONE TO ALL THE MANAGEMENT AND STAFF.

Just spent 2 nights at this hotel, would definitely return. Clean. Welcoming staff who were calm and friendly even when very busy serving breakfast to lots of guests. Short walk/bus ride to York centre. Highly recommend.

Stayed at the hotel for two nights and was really impressed. The staff were lovely, and took time to point out all the amenities in the building (pool, gym etc). The pool was heated which was a bonus.

Our bedroom window was mouldy and damp, our bathroom was mouldy. The steam room didn’t work and was dirty with mouldy seats. Complained and received an email from the manager saying sorry to hear about it hope to see you again soon. best western head office passed the blame onto the manager and said the matter is closed. £245 a night with no breakfast, I would rather have stopped in a bus shelter.
