Incompetent and Rude. My first appointment for a late afternoon slot was cancelled in the morning because the hairdresser had to go to the dentist. When I phoned back to re-arrange, I stated I could only do late afternoons or a Saturday. They offered me Thursday morning and I repeated that I could only do late afternoons, so I got an appointment for 9am on the Saturday which tied in with me driving my daughter back to Uni at 10am. I arrived on Saturday to be very rudely informed that I was not down for Saturday, but Thursday at 10:45 and didn't show up. I didn't get an apology, just one person after another coming to the counter to repeat that my appointment had been Thursday and not Saturday. I have never dealt with such rude and incompetent people. I couldn't seem to get through to them that I would never have booked the (rescheduled) appointment for Thursday morning as I was at work. The staff didn't even know that the hairdresser cancelled my original appointment on Wednesday due to having to go to the dentist. I was furious that 2 attempts at getting my hair cut never transpired; and that I was actually blamed for their mistake! Plus, I had to take my daughter back to Uni with unwashed hair tied in a ponytail. I ended up taking the Monday morning off work and going to a much more professional, friendly hairdressers in York city centre. I would definitely not recommend Zen to anyone, but I would recommend that the staff learn to make appointments correctly and learn some customer service skills from the staff at David Lloyd.
