Townend – lake district

This is a real gem in the National Trust's Lake District collection. The house is steeped in heritage and the guides present a sense of how the building developed through generations in the ownership of a family. Definitely worth a visit - allow about an hour / hour and a half.

Lovely place to visit for all the family. Wonderful staff and friendly. Has a car park. Value for money.

Gem of a place. We came here on a whim, being members of the National Trust and spotting a signpost. Very nice place, well kept and very interesting. The people there were friendly and particularly good with our children.

Lovely farmhouse property. Kids enjoyed going round and learning about the history of the property. Was very quiet when we arrived which made it much easier to get around. Lovely grounds and friendly staff.

A very unusual and interesting house. Take time to look for the items and details which are discreetly tucked away. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

History brought alive by the guides. Really friendly and helpful. The more questions you ask the more you gain from this visit. Good tea room close by as well.

A beautiful property well worth a visit. Fantastic collection of books and the house and furniture are fab. It only takes half an hour to an hour to walk round but very interesting.

A lovely 'time capsule' which allows us a glimpse of life as it was more than 450 years ago. Beautifully carved oak furniture and many other original features.

Excellent. Very informative. Worth a visit. The money goes to a very worth while cause.
