Staff was fantastic, even let me get an extra topping on my Mason Burger. Wife had the Shepard's Pie. Both were absolutely, mind-numbingly good. Price is super reasonable and the warm fire is a welcome benefit on a cold day. If you find yourself in York and you skip this place, then you weren't really ever in York.

Reasonable for a quick drink if you're in the area. Miss the food though - we had the chicken wings

Reasonable for a quick drink if you're in the area. Miss the food though - we had the chicken wings and some were cold in the middle. The turkey roast was very basic, the old good bit was the yorkshire pudding which was appropriately great. Staff generally very friendly and lovely except one waitress who was not.

I only came for the beer which was excellent. Very busy for food earlier but quietened down by 8pm.

I only came for the beer which was excellent. Very busy for food earlier but quietened down by 8pm. Appeared to be very well run. Visited 5 nights out of our 7 night holiday!
