Set on 2 acres of land, this refined seafront Victorian villa was originally built as a private home for the Russian royal family. It’s 0.8 miles from Torquay town centre and 1 mile from the Princess Theatre.

Lovely view, served the wrong food but was still good
Got a club room with a very good sea view. Huge bed, essentially two doubles. Bathroom somewhat tired but the room was spacious with solid furnishings. Excellent breakfast with very good, rapid service. A little out of town but only a £5 taxi ride or walk the coastal path.
A perfect afternoon tea... I enjoyed a beautiful cream tea today which consisted of very tasty sandwiches, cakes and a beautiful scone, cream, jam and earl grey tea. The staff are really friendly, the restaurant was clean and bright and the views spectacular. I’ll come again and would recommend.... thank you for a wonderful afternoon :-)

Went on a Friday to Monday trip. Week before Christmas....dining room excellent..the food was top class.a very varied menu.catered for gluten free, and vegan.. . bedrooms a bit dated, but didn't spoil anything..oh, and entertainment was a singer and top class magician. The hotel overlooked the sea.
As a non resident I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to The Headland Hotel. I had an amazing massage by Stella who then organised for me to use the hydro pool facilities for a little extra. Wow these are fantastic! So relaxing. What a lovely way to spend New Year's Eve. I shall definitely be returning for their Spa Day package with some girlfriends.
The hotel and staff were lovely and the food was delicious. I would definitely go again. The only problem was the size of my single room a little bigger would have been nice.
I was away for work when I booked this hotel. I had booked it the night before and was all set to stay. Unfortunately I was informed of a family member being taken into hospital and had to cancel the booking. I explained the situation to the woman on the phone and was hoping I could re arrange the booking for another time, however this wasn't an option. "It still needs to be paid!" she barked. Unsympathetic and uncaring. I appreciate fully it was me who was cancelling the booking but all they were interested in was getting paid. I won't bother booking here again and I recommend others give this a swerve. Rude and ignorant...
I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights while I was visiting a colleague in Newton Abbot. Firstly, the hotel was somewhat awkward to find, iPhone maps takes you to the bottom of the road if you use that as many do. I did tell them this and they said they knew about it. Staff were polite enough, but the room itself was a bit dated looking, and had numerous issues with the keycard - had to ask three times for the issue to be sorted, but they just re-programmed it and it still didn't work properly, took several attempts, one of which was at nearly midnight when no-one was on reception so I had to go to the bar to find someone when I just wanted to go to bed. The room itself was quite noisy, could hear the TV in the next room while I was trying to sleep and was woken up by it one morning too and the floor above was also a bit creaky too - appreciate the hotel has a more 'mature' age range of customers, so it may be they have the TV quite loud anyway, but it wasn't the best nights sleep ever. There was also no bath mat in the shower room and the floor was extremely slippery. Breakfast was nice though which kind of made up for things a bit. Table service was nice, had an English breakfast. Only downside was had to wait both days for milk or juice to be re-filled so I could sit and eat. The biggest downside to this hotel by a mile is the parking (or lack of). Initially I was able to get a space on arrival, but that was it. When I returned later that night and all the following day, I had to park the car halfway down the road - it's a nice area, but you don't want to be parking away from the hotel, particularly as I was carrying a lot of business-related items in the vehicle and it was clear to see I was a traveller so an easy target - only so much you can hide in the boot. It wasn't horrendous but not sure I would stay here again.
