Wonderful location by the castle in the old prison yard. At the time we visited the lovely wisteria was in flower spreading blossom and beautiful scent for the outside tables. It was a warm May evening, just the perfect setting for some alfresco dining. The food, wine and service were good so we had a very special meal which will remain as a lovely memory for a long time. Thank you for giving us a special memory of our wonderful visit to Oxford.

We had a very mixed time at our meal. The food was mostly okay and the server was really nice, sadly that was marred by a lot of issues. The food was luke warm and a little bit bland, the manager was conducting a staff review loudly with one of the chefs in the middle of the restaurant - which the review sounded like they were being pretty rude to the chef as we could see the chefs visible frustration and embarrassment which killed the mood, and the toilets stank like a medieval swamp. It’s a shame as we rarely have days off to do nice things, we read the Google reviews for this place which we’re saying this place was great and we felt like it was a waste of time.

Had a lovely meal with my husband whilst in Oxford. Easy to reserve a table, ate inside. Service was great, food was wonderful and the price was great. My husband reported that the meatballs melted and were the best he has eaten. Plenty of food on the plates. Will go again if in the area.

This place can be a bit hit and miss. we’ve had some great meals here and they’re wonderful at seating people last minute, but we’ve also had some rather unimpressive meals. We’ve tried everything from salads to pizza to pasta to kids meals and while most of it was nice there were some big let downs. For example we went with my nephews one week and their burgers were burnt and served on very dry bits of (I think) ciabatta instead of normal burger buns, then next week we went with my niece and her pizza was lovely.
