The room was OK, bathroom needs a little refresh but not dirty or horrendous. Decent sized room, comfy bed. However the service not so good. Arrived way too early to check in (we knew this) but asked if there was any chance our room was ready anyway. We didn't argue or pursue the matter but found the receptionist very rude in response and when storing our bags for us. Anyway we were abruptly told 3pm is check in time..came back later and arrived just before 3pm, at this point we'd been up travelling since 4am. We were told our room is still not ready and will be in 10 minutes (this would make it bang on 3pm). She said she will call us when it's ready and we can wait in reception. We watched probably a dozen groups coming in and being given a key for their room straight away. But ours still wasn't ready. I actually fell asleep on the chair in the waiting area as I was so exhausted. It got to around 3.45pm before my partner eventually had enough and went up to the desk for a fourth time and said can you just tell us if and when we will have a room available or else we will just have a refund and go to the holiday Inn over the road which had a room available. Then we were shown to our room! Crazy. During our stay we had no cleaning of the room, for whatever reason, so we had to request clean towels and more tea and coffee every day. The bed wasn't made or anything which I thought odd, but could possibly be due to covid restrictions. Anyway I personally wouldn't recommend, premier inn are usually good but I'd stick with another budget brand if visiting Edinburgh.
