I have rated this gym as a 3 as it is dated-but I don't so much mind that as long as things do their job! i.e The weights section-Yes it might have old equipment but they serve their purpose so to me that's good enough! I love how spacious the whole place is and the studios are lovely and light and bright. Even though I haven't used the pool area yet-it does look clean, tidy, spacious and non pretentious, which is great! The biggest down side for me is the classes and instructors....Yes there may look like a huge variety of classes on offer but for me, the quality of instructors and quality of those classes in my opinion is not of a high caliber........The instructors don't wear mics so you have no idea what you're doing or why you're doing it, and they seem to be having a workout themselves rather than being there for the members! This is 2020 surely we can find some great instructors that are going to give you a fantastic 45min cycle/body pump/body combat etc instead of walking in a minute or 2 late then lethargically getting sorted before they start! I know that all gyms in UK seem to still be working with the Les Mills concept-we are so far behind the rest of the world from a fitness perspective.....as a fitness professional myself I would love to see a more up to date modern approach with instructors & classes. Staff are friendly!

Disappointing gym, a very poor relation to other Nuffield gyms I have used in the south, e.g. Crawley. Main issues: 1. Lack of parking spaces (car park full, cars parked on pavement) 2. Old Matrix cardio equipment poor: had to try 3 bikes just to get one where I could adjust saddle due to corrosion on seat post/sticking adjuster pin; bike was rocking on floor whilst riding it. TV didn't work on cross trainer. Seems like poor maintenance. 3. Resistance machines are all Life Fitness brand and uncomfortable to use- not a patch on other brands such as Technogym 4. Showers poor- glass cubicle door wouldn't stay shut, water pressure low and pulsing (actually hard to rinse off soap!) 5. Ceiling tiles missing in changing room with dirt/debris on the floor- perhaps work in progress? 6. On entering, I was greeted with loud music blasting out of functional area along with PT yelling over the top of the din- I struggled to hear receptionist on the main desk- not a great or welcoming first impression. That said, staff were friendly and helpful. In summary, I feel that this gym would benefit from some serious investment and update of equipment to bring it up to a higher standard. Come on Nuffield, don't neglect the north whilst giving the south state of the art.

Great gym. Yes it's more expensive than sone other gyms in the area but it means you can actually attend a gym that isn't overun with half of the area all trying to take a selfi around a pair of dumbbells. Pool is great, as is the steam room and sauna. Classes are great, huge cardio section, even the weights area is decent. Very impressed.
