Always wanted to stay here but always fully booked, so a nice surprise to get a room. Oh it's lovely, clean and tidy good start always. Our room was at the back of the hotel and it was perfect, 2 single beds, one a 4 poster. Then down a passage to the main bedroom with a double 4 poster and a lovely bathroom at the end. My daughter did have to walk past my bed to get to the bathroom but I didn't hear her cos the bed was so comfy I was well and truly in the land of nod. When I know I'm going to visit York this is the first place I'll look for a room.

Beautiful guesthouse! By far the best place I've stayed in York and I've been visiting for years. Our family room was just perfect and having a single four-poster bed was an extra treat - and super comfy!! I did admire the Ebenezer Scrooge style full poster bed tho!! Breakfast was perfect, the staff/owners lovely, and being welcomed with mead, mulled wine, mince pies, and Christmas cake was just lovely. We will most definitely be back.

From the moment we arrived (early) we felt comfortable in the company of the staff. We were allowed to leave our bags to sightsee, as our room wasn't quite ready, although we did have the offer of staying in the reception area for cake and a cuppa if we preferred. The room was beautiful, clean and warm when we returned. Little touches like mints in the foyer, tea, coffee, hot choc and biscuits in the room, and a friendly faces throughout, made this visit an absolute joy. Breakfast and fresh coffee awaited us before check-out, and once again we were accommodated in leaving our bags in reception as our train home wasn't for another 5hrs. The heavens opened and we were lent an umbrella to wander York before returning for our bags (once again, the offer of tea and cake was available). Cannot fault this stay, we will be returning again soon!! Thanks to everyone for your hospitality!!

Brilliant bed and breakfast. Excellent location and easy to find. The building and room were both clean, tidy and very welcoming. The breakfast was insanely tasteful and well presented in a basket! Staff were helpful and friendly! Excellent idea for coffee and cake downstairs in a chilled environment. Would definitely recommend and stay again! Thank you!
