I've added a star because the staff are always very kind, and the responsible pharmacist has taken time to advise carefully and patiently on medication changes. However, in the last few months my mother has had repeated problems.
One time, they sent her away with her own medications, but someone else's presciption paper. Another time, she ordered several medications ahead of time, but when she got home, she discovered several were missing. Yet another time, she phoned ahead and was told her prescription was ready, but when she went to collect it, it wasn't (it can be tricky to make two trips if you're elderly).
However, after a recent experience when the pharmacy left my mum without two vital medications for four days, I feel I have to write a review. Here's the tale.
My mum phoned her medications through on a Wednesday, and was told they would be ready on Friday. That day, she phoned ahead and was told the medications were not in, but to come on Saturday, the last opening day before a Bank Holiday. On Saturday, they sent her away with an "owing note" listing two medications they hadn't supplied, telling her to come back for them the following Wednesday (!!). This would have left my mother unmedicated for a heart condition and a mental condition for four days.
There were no instructions/assistance for alternative ways to get hold of the medications elsewhere, and apparently no concern for my mum's well-being. I'm sorry to say that this is contrary to what the owner says in response to another Google review, that they would never leave you without a medication.
Due to this, my whole extended family had to spend literally hours on the phone to 111, with multiple rings back from the on-call doctor in the middle of Saturday night, calls to scores of pharmacies in the area with Sunday hours to see if they stocked the items, and eventually a drive to Didcot. Not really how I wanted to spend my Bank Holiday weekend, but it was the only way to ensure my mother didn't miss a dose of her heart medication. I thought that was the pharmacist's job.
Requires serious improvement.
EDITING TO ADD: I'm thankful for the owner's response and have sent him an email with the info he is asking for. I may make a further edit to this review once I hear from him again.
