Nice venue, friendly staff. Quite quiet as a number of tables had cancelled. Food was good, though not exciting. I had the catch of the day which was seabass. 2 fillets, very nicely cooked, with crispy skin. If there had been a nice sauce on the side or with the potatoes/veg I would have been happier. The trifle was lovely though, if not very big!

Poor service. We wished for aperitifs after a graduation service and prior to dinner. We were greeted by a most arrogant fellow. It was as if we were privileged to be present. After a few minutes he enquired what we might like. But we couldn't choose as he had omitted to furnish us with the wine list. The wine, when it arrived, was excellent. Once finished the bill was 50% higher than it should have been as the wine was Not what we had consumed. Barely an apology. Apart from 'We were busy'. No they were not, with there being only 3 tables to serve. POOR SERVICE POOR ATTITUDE

Had the absolute pleasure of staying at Hotel du Vin for 4 nights for a festive treat recently. The suite we stayed in was very well appointed and the bed suitably large and extremely comfortable - which was a godsend after walking around hilly Edinburgh all day 😊 The hotel itself is very beautiful and makes for a fantastic stay while in Edinburgh. The location is fantastic for getting around Old Town, with the Royal Mile and Castle being a fairly short walk away. We also walked to Arthur's Seat in a little over an hour. Breakfasts were also a highlight - my wife was a particular fan of the eggs benedict. Small requests were also no problem, which you'd expect at a hotel like this, but worth noting nonetheless. But for all the positives in the hotel, the stars of the show are undoubtedly the staff who are all, without exception, incredibly helpful and so warm and friendly. Will almost certainly book Hotel du Vin next time we head to beautiful Edinburgh.

Stayed one night in October 2021 and paid around £380 for a room which we were expecting to be amazing and to be honest it was one of the worst we’ve stayed in with the smallest bed and a noisy courtyard view. The rooms at premier inn make this place look like a 2 star hotel, hence the review. The value for money is scandalous and I feel like we had been ripped off. Exploiting people’s desire to travel again with overpriced small tired rooms. We asked to be moved but unfortunately the hotel was full will other overpaying customers. On the plus side the staff were very pleasant and friendly and the bar is nice and quirky.

Superb location with well appointed and equipped rooms. However what stood out for me was the calibre of the staff. They are truly excellent, helpful, considerate with an emphasis on the guest at all times. If a business’s strength is build on the quality of people it employs, well Hotel Du Vin Edinburgh is Fort Knox.
