This was our second stay in about 18 months. Rooms are large and comfortable. Staff are helpful and friendly. Breakfast is continental style but good choice. The hotel is really convenient for York Place tram stop. Attractions are easily accessible. To note that the building is quite old so quite quirky. I think four old houses knocked into one hotel. Lots of stairs.

Agreed with previous comments that the hotel is more three star than four star. Hotel service was good, welcoming and attentive. The room was clean but was small and very hot in summer with no A/C and no fan available. However the room was well equipped with a comfortable bed, fancy decoration and a large tv. The en suite was clean and bright, power shower was a bit loud though. Continental breakfast. Perhaps a bit too expensive for what you get

This is billed as a luxury hotel, and the price per night agrees with that, however my room (single occupancy) had some kind of mold or mildew growing up from the floor about 2 inches. There was a hole in the wall by the bed that looks like someone put their elbow through. No tissues provided in the room. The shower leaked water onto the floor. Based on mildew by the point it was leaking, it's nothing new. It is very convenient to local attractions and a place to sleep, but I probably wouldn't be back.

1/ 5

Worst hotel I've stayed in Scotland. The rooms were old, musty, gloomy and of questionable cleanliness. The guests were left to drag their luggage around the labyrinthine corridors and up the steep staircases, as there is no elevator and no staff to help. The toilet flush sounded like a ship's horn and the bed was missing a peg leg and was slightly leaning to one corner as a result. The breakfast, served in a gloomy basement, was the poorest I had in Scotland. The tables were not enough to accomodate all of the visitors, so the stuff was rushing the ones already seated to finish in order to make room. To call this establishment a... 4* (???) hotel is an utterly exaggerated euphemism. My (fortunately very brief) stay there constantly reminded me of Fawlty Towers. Avoid at all costs.

Just arrived in rain so wet and hungry and it’s late but no restaurant or bar ! Mould on Windows, latches broken, ceiling wall paper coming off WiFi useless . Window in bathroom falling apart and covered in rust and mould. Can’t upload photos sadly. Paid a lot of money for low standard hotel. No way 4 stars. A poor 2 more likely. If I could find a travel lodge with a room I’d move. Will be asking for a refund. APPALLING.
