Martin & Co manchester

I've edited this review because Julie contacted me to acknowledge by comments, which was, in fairness, very professional and very much appreciated from my side. But overall, I did unfortunately have a fairly negative experience with Martin & Co. The extra star is for how the leaving process was handled and the follow-up call.

If I could give them a lower rating I would - absolutely atrocious letting agency. They are great at communicating until they actually have your money, and then they go silent. Our flat was dirty when we moved in, and we cleaned it very well when moving out, only for them to attempt to charge £150 for a clean. Rude, aggressive, unpleasant staff who attempt to get into contact on the weekends and late in the evenings - they hang up on you when you ring, and don't acknowledge complaints. They do not give the legal notice for viewings, and when confronted about this, become particularly unpleasant. It took our kitchen flooding for them to even consider doing the maintenance we had been asking for for weeks. I have never dealt with such unpleasant and incompetent people - and if you read the reviews closely, you can tell that many of the five star ones seem fake! For your sanity, PLEASE do not let with this agency. Usually I go with the property over the agents but they will do nothing but overcharge you and cause you misery whilst being nasty and difficult about it :(

I had a very bad experience while trying to rent an apartment having moved into Manchester. They don't respond to e mails and when they say they would call back, they will never until you call back.Jess Miles wasn't nice at all. Alex who appeared to be the owner was so rude telling me "they wouldn't care whether I worked for the Queen or the PM". That was the height of it all. As soon as I got this message, I requested for my deposit back which they did. I lost a whole week going back and forth with them, They really don't care!! Going through all the reviews, I'm happy I didn't sign any contract with them. Please avoid them!!!

Worst letting agent in Manchester We were broken in to and their emergency line did not work. Called the office in the morning and no one picked up for over an hour and they advised they couldn't help with our smashed in door. They gave the security deposit back to the wrong tenant and didn't even say sorry let alone help get it back so I'm not down by £600.00. Never again will I waste my time and money with these idiots

Had a massive leak into my apartment. Julie Houghton was very helpful, organised temp accommodation and the clean up was organised so that I wasnt displaced for more than a week. Recommend julie houghton for all tenants if they have any issues

FANTASTIC service by Barbra Cousins. Always made sure everything worked properly at the flat, if something didn’t work she made sure it was fixed the same day /as soon as possible. VERY lovely lady and FANTASTIC service. I would recomend Martin&Co and Barbra Cousins without a doubt. We are leaving as we are moving back to our motherland. Thank you for everything,Barbra. Simona

Unfortunately, Martin and co aren't very responsive to emails (or calls) when they say they will be in touch - currently on week 7 still trying to get my deposit back due to them charging me £195 in cleaning expenses for no reason when the property was cleaned and photographic evidence given prior to vacating (463sq ft 1 bed apartment). Was a nightmare getting into the apartment originally - messing you around with different move-in days and form after form. When you call staff members are rude and sharp on approach (that's if anyone picks up). Shame I have to write such review to remotely get a quicker response & come to some resolution (some cases has taken 2 weeks to hear back).. they are very efficient obtaining your deposit in the first place however.

I do not recommend this letting agency ,I had such a horrible experience, I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone. No one should be treated with such disrespect. I went to drop off my keys in the office and it felt like i was in the 1950’s with all the racism I encountered , the guy was shouting and refused to let me inside the building to drop off my keys, he even refused to let me speak and kept shouting over me saying “get out get out” I just wanted so guidance as I was advised by email to go to the office to drop off my keys , This experience made me extremely uncomfortable I was in tears. This just reflects badly on the business as they employ anyone from the street. This was the worst company I’ve dealt with in my entire life, nothing I wanted was getting done, replies were slow when it came to fixing things but super fast with other matters related to them. It’s such a shame as the Appartment I was staying in was nice but definitely not worth the abuse.

One star for the swiftness of replying! Assistants are rude and disrespectful.

First to take the money but last to give it back. Very bad service, not replying to emails or answering the phone.
