The Ashmolean Cafe oxford

The only thing this cafe has going for it is that it is in the Ashmolean. If this was a stand alone cafe I very much doubt it would still be open. The staff here seem a combination of demotivated and aloof. Coffee is not that great and I have tried much better cakes elsewhere in Oxford. And then you factor in the price and it feels like you've been kicked in the teeth. This is a total tourist trap. If you are after a coffee or a bite to eat and you have the time then there are too many good places on the door step of the museum where you will get much better value for money.

Selection of tasty cakes and decent ambience. Does tend to give an impression of being a bit busy here when you first enter the space but once you sit down; you tend to have your own privacy and the acoustics work well. Just don't sit close to the refrigerators - they tend to be loud. Free public wireless and the Museum shop next door - you can also find mobile charging points (not free) in the same area. All in all; a good time to spend your time in the centre of Oxford. Prices are subjective.

Paid a vist to the museum today 01.09.18 Thought i'd start with a pot of tea in the cafe down stairs.the cost was £2.40 this folks is hot water and a teabag. No air conditioning in the cafe so like a sauna All in all not great.

Lovely friendly staff and nice views. The hit chocolate is absolutely amazing would recommend going just for that!

just about the worst cafe i’ve ever been to

Forget the Ashmolean cafe. If you want to eat, go and find somewhere else. First of all, the cafe is filthy. There is rubbish everywhere you look. All the tables and chairs have used tissues, crumbs and all sorts. So after we spent a quarter of an hour cleaning and disinfecting the tables and chairs, we went to order. £1.60 for a bottle of water?! Theft!! They have maybe two staff working in the entire place and the counter is really dirty. There's also the atmosphere to consider. It's dim and the lights don't make a bit of difference. Waste of time and money. After our museum visit, we walked a minute and a half to a sourdough pizza place which was tasty and cost the same as the two bottles of water we ordered at the cafe.

Lovely gem in central of Oxford! Friendly staff and smiley even when it’s very busy. I would recommend to get more employees really because the waiting time is long not because of staff but the all responsibilities just between mostly two people there... there is too many customers to serve in one time. I love the section with food, good prices ✌🏻⭐️ All the best to Victoria and Simona which are mostly there to take my order and do tasty coffee 😃 I will be back for sure 💕
