A proper man shop full of tools, equipment and has a metal store. The place to go when your wife is in shopping mode and just across the road from the Grafton centre

Old fashioned tool shop where they know their stuff. My last few visits have been for the metal shop out back. Ordering online for collection speeds things up a lot.

A real traditional hardware and tool shop, unlike the supermarket types that do not have customer satisfaction as a priority. The metal store is excellent with very knowlegable and helpful staff.

This independent hardware store is an aladdin's cave. There is a wide range of quality tools and hardware and counter service so you can still get those particular screws you need. There is a small car park at the rear.

I needed a replacement mattock handle. You could buy them for a few quid online, and all the reviews said they'd last maybe as long as a year or two, but the handle I was replacing was on my partner's grandfather's mattock that had lasted 70 years. So I looked for a good quality one, hard wood, etc. For decent kit, Mackays were cheaper than anyone else online, and they're a family run outfit. If you don't mind replacing your tools every year or so, or having to push twice as hard to get them to bite, don't bother with this place. If you know what a false economy is, this is your hardware store ;) Thanks guys!

Yeah, you could posssibly get most of the stuff from Amazon, but the level of service you get at Mackays is sooooo worth the visit. Not sure exactly which left-handed gizmo thingamabob you need? Stop watching YouTube videos, go to Mackays and ask them! You **will** find out, and probably learn something new too. A wonderful Aladdin's cave of products and friendly staff that really know their stuff. What's more to like? Get off your shopping app and visit! Free parking too!
