If they ever answer the phone, and that's a big if, they can never seem to tell you the right information! I was waiting on a phone appointment the receptionist asked me to take a sample in. My husband took it around for me, to be told they can't accept it unless a doctor asks. Rang back explained what the first receptionist had said and she even agreed it said on the notes to take a sample, so couldn't understand why they rejected it. Had to go back to take it. Not the only time I've been told one thing on the phone and told something different in person. Staff in the surgery can be very rude as well. Talk to you like you're thick and accuses you of lying if you try explain what people have said over the phone.

Horrendous. Good luck getting an appointment you'd be quicker training to be a doctor yourself. Waited 28 days for an appointment to be told the day before it's cancelled. Good work, keep it up.

Always positive and helpful staff. Doing their best. Some of the frustrations felt and reported ie. wait times are out of their control - funding pressures and cuts in staffing - doing their best in tough times. New phone system helping and they always stay on the line until an appointment is found or alternatives made. Nothing but positive things to say.

I have been with this practice my entire life and never really needed it much. However this past year the service is shocking. since January I have not had one appointment or prescription that has gone right first time. Just a few concerns identified as I'm currently taking this higher. Phone waiting times at least 20 minutes to speak to a receptionist (if your lucky!) I rang in January, my son had just been diagnosed with seasonal asthma and I will admit I was an unsure mum who didnt know if was over reacting. I rang the surgery wanting an appointment when my son was wheezing n I mentioned by 11am he had his inhaler 5 times (now I would ring the hospital straight away but back then I was unsure) I was told I couldn't have an appointment but dr will ring me back. 3 hours later I had to ring them back to see when. when I was finally phoned back n a emergency appointment was set my son ended up being sent to hospital in an ambulance, this could of been avoided! 3 hours for a call back! since then I've had to wait weeks for appointments, my prescriptions always seem to get lost, misplaced, remain unsigned (I spent 7 hours the other week trying to get a prescription to the point I went to woodthorpe surgery n the receptionist sorted it in 30 minutes, why couldn't that happen on acomb?) The doctors, most if the time are great but first you need to get past the receptionists! Then to top it off my husband has rang this morning to ask about his sick note......... the receptionist again has misplaced it...... misplaced a confidential document!!! you couldn't make this up!!!

York medical group ignoring a private healthcare approval form since July 2021 despite constant chasing. We have been advised by the poor girl at reception to put in a complaint, while the only person that can respond to our request is on holiday... again.

It's a gp surgery and we all have our own opinions about our gp's surgeries atm! My opinion is since the my gp surgery merged with York Medical group was the worst decision ever made and caring for patients is being dramatically affected! I can go to a concert/festival with 1000s of people but want to see my gp I have to use an online service for then someone to decide my ailment doesn't warrant a same day appointment without talking to you! I've personally been admitted into hospital several times via 111 as I couldn't get an appointment... They need to stop hiding behind covid 19 and start seeing more patients.

The web site is appalling. How someone on their own in their 70's or 80's navigates this is beyond me. Also my daughter spent 35 minutes with a very caring Doctor on 111 who recommended anti-biotics and further tests via her GP as he suspected her illness could be linked to another condition. In escalating this to her GP, she got a text, yes a text message not even a phone call from YMG to wait 7 days to see if the symptoms subside. Here now 3 days later she is no better but actually worse. "Trust our family to look after your family" what an empty strap line from my perspective. So disappointed with this GP group. What am I paying my taxes for?

My parent Father is with this practice .O ver recent months he has had the most awful time . He is now at the hands of our appalling Social Care who over assess for payment for a system you have already paid into, this leaving you very little to live on. I rang this practice for assistance with a letter to address the need for a healthy diet rich in fruit , veg , etc to maintain his health to the best of his ability. On recovering from a heart attack some twenty years ago , he was given a book for diet from the hospital , he has maintained a successful attitude to his health , however has been unlucky with other health needs which also as with many illness's require to eat well . ThIS SURGERY REFUSED TO WRITE A LETTER WE WERE WILLING TO PAY FOR.Maybe a Doctors Salary will never put you in this position , and I hope theirgrandson who is a Doctor never has this uncaring attitude to his patients and he will try to help his patients in whatever way they need as it is a basic human right to request this , what is wrong with the world We have over and over seen how awful we are treating this generation , he had been falling for many years and a severe spinal nerve damage was never looked into , he can no longer walk , he has had a stroke , he stayed with this practice because of one doctor an affinity with a stamp collector , shame on the medical profession for not assisting in any way possible to fight the injustice of Social Care , because it all leads back to ill health and medicine when people cant afford to buy good food due to high charges . who are we to contradict what we are told everyday Dont smoke !, dont drink !,eat well !.oily fish , fruit , veg , my father has been told eat microwave meals , wiltshire food , full of salt after a stroke , because there is no time to help him maintain 20 years of not doing this .We asked for your help and you refused Ear Well !

I had one of the best experiences I've ever had with this drs surgery. I had just moved to York and needed an emergency appointment and the team bent over backwards to help me. The receptionist, manager and Doctor were all incredible and I cannot thank them enough. I nearly didn't register here due to the bad reviews I read, but my personal experience couldn't have been further from those listed.
