The Old Forge Caffè & Restaurant

Our official favourite cream tea venue, by far. Melt-in-the-mouth scones warm and fresh out the oven, with incredible jams on the side. We cannot get enough! We will eventually try the other food but it’s too hard to resist a cream tea there. Lovely family owned place with great service and atmosphere.

Had the full English and was beautiful. Very high quality and generous portion. Could tell the eggs were very fresh and loved the toast came with the option of jam and marmalade. Tried the jam and was extremely tasty. Wished I asked where it came from. Lovely coffee and cakes looked amazing!

An absolutely delicious cream tea in a warm and toasty cafe. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rest of the menu looked very tasty as well; sad we couldn’t try more!

Worth the detour from the A30 for the fab food and friendly service. We originally came to Chagford to swim in the river at Fingle Bridge years ago. We still go back (on the way to/from Cornwall) for lunch at the Old Forge even if terrible weather prevents us swimming like today. Delicious fresh warm scones, a good selection of teas, and I wish I'd spotted the homemade clafoutis before ordering a scone on autopilot. Best lunch option for miles around. Nice cozy cafe and a great lunch. Reasonable prices with outstanding quality. Service is personal and welcoming. You can't go wrong for a coffee or lunch.

A relaxed feel. Staff are friendly, helpful and have calming effect on people. Lamb was beautiful. Full breakfast was really nice, not heavy. I loved the cream tea. Dog friendly. Staff wear visor. Hand sanitiser readily available. Place is clean with great ambiance. Excellent experience all round

Lovely tea room. We had tea and scones, well worth it. Big, warm and tasty. Two jams from local source. Proper clotted cream. Accessibility is limited, due to age of building.

Visiting my friend in Chagford , she suggested we book a table . Staff were friendly, We each had a cooked breakfast. It was lovely and done just how we like it. Well worth a visit and we will be back . Thank you The old Forge.
