My favourite stop for a bite to eat and a delightful coffee. If you like your medieval architecture with a warm welcome and great food, this 700 year old coffee house is for you!

A lovely place to stop and have a brew and a cake Came here with my wife to get out of the rain and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not normally a cafe goer but I really liked the quiet and relaxed vibe this place gave off. The staff are nice and pleasant and the prices are good. There is a surprising amount of choice on the menu from burritos to cakes. I had the carrot cake (which was bloody delicious) and a pot of tea and my wife had an Iced tea and a fruit scone. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quiet place to relax after a busy day shopping and sight seeing in york

Not that much of a fan...place looked really cute on the inside, staff is also nice. Only downstairs you can sit way nicer than upstairs. When we ordered the drinks and food, which were on the pricy side, we expected some good stuff. Only the coffee was really watery and the milk not even foamed well. I've been to lots of places for coffee already, and they've always been good, but this one I could've made myself at home, it tasted like soluble coffee. Anyways, the food, it said pancakes with fruit. We thought the price was fine, but we only got one not that big pancake with a bit of fruit, that was a little disappointing...I don't want to drag them down, but if the prices are higher, you'd expect better. Alas, this wasn't the case...otherwise I could've payed less and get the same in a cheaper place. The girls were amazing though! Nothing wrong with the service.

Visited the cafe recently. Agree with all the reviews that it's a lovely cafe and would recommend. I was amazed that when I went to pay I couldn't buy some scones to take away. I would be interested to hear from the owners as in the current financial climate they missed out on a sale.
