The hotel on paper looks nice and in person with some live and attention could be . However in the hotels own words they only reopened 4 weeks ago due to having been used as a covid centre and they are struggling to get staff . The room I was placed in whilst having clean bed sheets had a dirty bath , the bin wasn’t emptied and all surfaces had not been cleaned . I could tell this due to ring marks and dust left on the surface. When I called for someone to come and sort it out the bathroom was cleaned but the surfaces remained unclean . Considering we are still in a pandemic I’m particularly concerned about the level of cleanliness . My children had another room further around the corridor . When I visited them they had blood on a towel left in their bathroom , the soap was down the toilet and there was what only looked like blood all over the curtains . No cups , no milk , no toiletries and again hair in their shower . The TV in my room remained not working for the duration of my two night stay although I brought this to the attention of the hotel on the first morning . The tea and milk were not replaced in my room and no cups were left only a paper one which I presume was for use in the bathroom . The number of things I have had to bring to the attention of the hotel is embarrassing but in summary this hotel could be so much better but it wasn’t and felt dirty and unloved

Had an afternoon tea booked for 2 weeks as part of a family hen party for my sister inlaw who lives in Mexico. When we arrived there was no one in reception, a member of maintenance told us to knock on a staff door & when a member of staff finally appeared we were told they were getting the manager. 15 minutes later she arrived telling us that they weren't doing afternoon tea or any food as they haven't had a chef for some time. I asked why we hadn't had a phone call to cancel our booking but was told as they arent doing any meals they don't check their bookings as we shouldn't be able to book anything. I pointed out you clearly can book as we have booking confirmation so staff should be checking every few days to ensure customers don't show up. She did offer to contact their sister hotel however that is nearly an hour away and I had a 1 year old with me who needed some food. The manager was apologetic however this shouldn't have happened. If we had been contacted earlier we could have booked somewhere else but at this short notice we could only have some lunch in a restaurant in town. Not what we had planned and was very disappointing. I also don't understand why we had to wait 15minutes to be told this. I won't book here again as they obviously can't be relied upon to contact customers when there is an issue. We didn't get beyond reception but the court yard is also looking very tatty with areas cordoned off as they need repairing.

Found this hotel via hotels.com. It’s near the desired destination I was heading over to the following day. Night check in was a bit confusing as it says press night bell but the actual entrance just after closing time was at the leisure reception. Found it by chance but that’s neither here or there really. Check in was straight forward, the usual questions and checks. Mattress was a little bit of hard side but views of the communal area was pretty good in the day time. You get given shower gel and shampoo, good quality as well. Tv bit on the small side but hi-ho. Plenty of parking spaces over here
