Lovely pub, excellent roasts. They keep some tables in the bar area unreserved so it's easier to get a last minute Sunday lunch here than elsewhere in the neighbourhood.

Nice pub with a good selection of beers on tap (a few ciders too). A cosy indoors and a large outdoors seating area which is great during the summer. As you walk in it seems smaller than it actually is, but can accommodate quite a few people. Good use of overall space.

Excellent lunch of Hoisin beef followed by bread and butter pudding with crispy glaze. Landlord bitter almost too good to drink, creamy head and sparkly clear. Friendly and attentive service. Nice way to pass the afternoon.

An excellent wedding celebration day. The old spot was an ideal location. Very good atmosphere, lovely freshly cooked food, with a large garden, and ample cover for the adverse weather. A great all day event. I would recommend the Old spot for anyone to consider for a celebration occasion.

I've revised up from 4 to 5 stars as, in addition to my previous review below, the staff are simply such nice, helpful people and they've taken great care to make the place Covid-safe Like almost all the pubs in the area, this pub was grotty a few years ago, received a huge facelift and now caters for an aspirational, middle income clientele. A very popular, bustling, female- and child-friendly place. The garden, though just a green rectangle, has been made attractive through bright decoration and caters well for children.
