Upon arrival my room was dirty and hadn't been cleaned from previous guests. Returned to reception and she allocated me another room and apologised, this room was much cleaner and had all promised facilities. I slept fine but would have preferred curtains to just blinds, which still let some light through. The real disappointment came the next morning, when there was not one drop of warm water. I could not have a shower. Instead, I boiled the kettle and half filled the sink to wash myself. Not ideal. When i checked out i mentioned the issue, the response was "oh sorry maybe there's something wrong with the boiler. Bye then" Would have expected some compensation to be honest....

The Devonshire hotel is a quaint and old building that has been extremely well maintained and managed. The receptionists and staff are most welcoming and very helpful. Location is a bit out of town, can be accessed by bus from a stop just down the road from the hotel. This hotel is mostly busy, with a few parties and conferences holding in the conference halls downstairs. The room we stayed in was quite large, unusual for a hotel in the UK, with windows overlooking a beautiful green area. Breakfast was excellent, with a variety of options, with a staff on hand to meet your additional request. Overall, my stay was enjoyable. If you like a old styled kind of hotel, this comes well recommended.

Had my mums wedding here last week and what a great place to celebrate. They couldn’t do enough for you and the day was a great success, everyone enjoyed it. We didn’t stay and to be honest when looking at the room we saw I wasn’t bothered it didn’t look the best but that said we couldn’t have had a better day. Great, friendly staff. One thing I would mention would be they cut the cake up and left it out then binned loads at the end of the night. This was disappointing as my mum paid a lot for a cake that just went to waste I think it should have been wrapped up and saved or not all cut up in the first place. All in all though what a fantastic experience. Thank you

Arrived here yesterday. First impression from outside was gardens nice but building was tatty and needed money spent on it. Inside was the same. It needs repainting to make it tidy to warrant £180 for 2 nights b.b. The rooms are so basic with roller blinds to the windows which in our room have splits in them and one side is frayed. These allow light in so once it starts coming daylight you are awake. Apparently all rooms are like this with no curtains. There is no phone in the room if you needed to contact reception and no hair dryer either. The only table in the room are 2 small bedside tables with a drawer so difficult for ladies when applying makeup. Some rooms overlook the gardens but round the back where we are we have a lovely view of a breakers yard. Cooked breakfast is buffet style with the food containers kept warm by 3 candles underneath in tins. Therefore food not very warm. Coffee disgusting. Would not recommend.

Dont let the star score put you off, this is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are a good size, impeccably clean and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Imagine. Check in time is 3pm and the traffic you expected didn't happen so you arrive at 2pm. The room is ready and the receptionist asks if you'd like to get a drink while you wait. The lovely barman gets your drinks then tells you by way of apology the drinks are free. Unexpected, certainly not necessary but a nice start to our visit. The only issue we had was that the whole hotel (while from a distance looking as spectacular as the photos) looks a little bit tired. Paint is flaking off the walls in most areas including the rooms and it just all looks like it need a scrub up and a bit of TLC to be majestic. It's a real shame because the gardens are beautiful and the rooms really are nice. I don't want to give the impression that the place is a dilapidated wreck - it isn't. It just needs some love as a casual glance might put people off when in reality both the staff and the rooms are superb. Breakfast is a serve yourself aware, well stocked and topped up. We didn't have time to sample the evening meal but had a good look at the menu and it looked mouth watering. Overall, a lovely place that just needs a bit of attention to make it highly sought after as opposed to 'OK'

Great night out. Our party was 25 or so, and with the other groups there were probably 150 people. The staff were great, putting up with a room full of mostly people who were half-cut. The chinese buffet was so much better than expected. It was hot and tasty. 5 stars are well deserved.

Had our Wedding here in August 2021 and it was the best day ever. the facilities are great our room clean and Spacious and the staff are the most helpful i have ever experienced. They just made our day go so smoothly and enjoyable, they advised us that we would not need to worry about anything on the day, they will sort everything and they really did even something small like adding extra chairs with no fuss. Honestly i would go back in a heartbeat and cannot wait until we get invited back for another wedding or function. Thanks you all @devonshire House Liverpool.

My brother and sister in law has their wedding here yesterday...absolutely amazing service from start to finish!! Even with some covid restrictions everything was perfect and did not impact on the day...cant thank the staff enough for such an amazing beautiful well co-ordinated day!..the wedding suites are just gorgeous, and the grounds perfect for photos!... hotel rooms are a bit basic but in the process of being upgraded...once it is done to match the standard of the wedding suites will be a venue to rival all others A** worth a look for any brides to be!! 🥰
