Our visit started with a 40 min wait for our food a tuna wrap (only 10 people in the pub) Our room 201 was at the back of the hotel both our windows would not close fully so the noise was horrendous we went down at breakfast at 10.05AM and was told that they finished at 10.00 am so we could only have toast. however they had run out of butter so we ended up eating nothing totall unhelpful staff who do not care about your welfare.

Great staff, good food, clean. Felt horrible we couldn't leave tips - didn't know we wouldn't get the option using a credit card!!! Room was nice, as well. Appreciated that they held onto our bags past check-out so we could sightsee.

Came here tonight as the end to a work do. Nice atmosphere and good music. A great energy and lots of dancing. A much better place to go for a night out than the chapel!

Pub downstairs is good as was the service. Great location and cool building, however they need to update their worn-out carpet and dilapidated furnishings in the rooms. Tub was moldy and the partition to block shower water was broke. Peeling paint in the rooms. The room size was small as expected, but some serious tlc is needed as much has fallen into disrepair.

I am not normally one for leaving one star reviews as most places have redeeming features or were just caught on a bad day and other people had better experiences than me. However this place deserves its one star review, I wish I had paid attention to the other reviews before booking as I would have avoided this place like the plague. I have never seen a hotel in a worse state of repair and getting a good night's sleep is definitely not going to happen. This hotel deserves this one star review and worse they have no intention of trying to improve anything, they seemed oblivious to their problems. I know it's only 60ish pounds a night but you still expect a clean and tidy hotel for that money. Be warned

Not good. Room dilapidated. Dirty. Breakfast awful, bad enough for my husband not to ask for the missing items from his plate. The only good thing was the waitress at breakfast, she was lovely.

Don't believe all the negative reviews o The f this hotel, we stayed 3 nights and it was great.Sure it's old and dated but clean and comfortable,a couple of minor issues but nothing worth complaining about.Richard who I believe is the manager was excellent, all staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them .The breakfast was good, had to wait a bit but it was v.busy.Great value for money.Good evening meals at reasonable prices, recommend cathedral burger and club Sandwich. The bar was cheaper than local pubs.If you have young children do not stay Thurs to Saturday as bar becomes nightclub until 2am so noisey! All in all we had a fantastic stay and for less than£60 per night for the two of us unbeatable.I would.wholeheartedly recommend. Thanks to all staff at Cathedral hotel for making it a pleasant experience, would definitely stay again!
