Karen was so helpful when helping us organise my Dad's 60th Birthday cake. I sent photos of a cake I liked the look of, a photo of my Dad and she created something better than we could have imagined! Everyone commented on how great the cake looked and how lovely it tasted! Thank you The Cake Shop! :-)

ONE STAR IS NOT COMMENDED. but couldn't post this review without a rating. Please read this carefully before purchasing for a special occasion! We bought an engagement cake from the shop for £70. On picking it up we thought it was a little plain and boring, not as described when purchasing the item. never the less it looked professionally done. The engagement party was a great success and our guests commented on the cake. On the following morning we delivered portions of cake to friends and family. To our horror and embarrassment almost all our guests complained to us that the cake was stale and the butter icing had no taste. On looking at the cake it appeared very unevenly baked. The cake consistency was very very dry. On tasting the butter icing I can only describe this as amateur and tasteless. We took the cake back to the shop to ask the manageress to take a look. Unfortunately she was not available but we were reassured she would ring us back early the next day. We were happy with this response and left the cake in their charge. At 15 30 the following day after not receiving a call I rang the cake shop. I was informed the manager was in and the person answering the phone went to get her. To my surprise the lady came back to tell me the manageress was upstairs and in her opinion the cake was fine. At no point did the manageress speak to us as customers with a problem. The utter disrespect shown was despicable. The cake is still in the shop with no comment from the staff to pick it up. In our opinion the cake did not meet any expectations. We intend to contact trading standards in relation to the above service but unfortunately the trading standards will not be able to taste the pitiful excuse of a cake as we no loner have it. Technically the shop owe us for the cake in their charge but alas the "management" would not speak with us directly." Score: customer service 0, Cake quality 0, satisfaction 0, value for money 0. My advise to anyone shopping here is DONT!. Better quality of cakes in the supermarkets which last weeks longer. Needless to say my partner is desperately upset due to the embarrassment from quests complaints. I am disgusted at the level or lack of customer service. They were very eager to take a payment in full but not as eager to listen to two upset customer's.

I brought two cakes in 2013 for my wife's 50th and my Dad's 70th birthdays. Both cakes were received to a superb standard. My wife was immensely pleased with her cake and hasn't yet stopped showing off the photographs. My Dad was overwhelmed with his cake as I had taken in a picture of him to which the store created a replica of him sitting on top of the cake. The likeness was terrific. I would highly recommend "The Cake Shop" as the place to go for all your celebration needs. The staff helped me choose the cakes I wanted and were very friendly. Thanks Cake Shop staff.
