Sunset by Australasia – manchester

The best Japanese in Manchester. After eating some of the best Japanese around the world, i can no longer eat at the majority of so called Japanese restaurants in the UK. Sushi and sashimi were fresh and rolls were spot on. Cocktails were great as well.

Such a cosy feel. Our server knew the menu in detail. Managed to customize our afternoon tea to suit our pescatarian palate. The black cod and desserts were outstanding! My husband actually spilled his coffee while the chocolate mousse and nougat transported him in time and space to a french/Viennese patisserie shop. The coffee on his pants brought him back ha ha! I wouldn't recommend to indulge regularly as it will put a dent in your pocket and a paunch on your torso, but everyone should have afternoon tea at Sunset, at least once a year : ) Ok may be once a month : ) Also it's the perfect place to cheer you up if you got some bad news to work through. Even if you sit in a corner, on your own, seeking minimal disturbance, the ambience will put a smile on your face, a song in your heart and relax you with good food. I would recommend Sunset more than Australasia it self

Amazing restaurant with lovely food and staff, fantastic experience there however the doormen on the bar up to sunset were not so pleasant Booked a table for my boyfriends birthday and got refused entry mainly because of our accent, even though we had just spent a hell of a lot of money in the restaurant, the manager apologised but by this time we decided to spend our money elsewhere Shame as the restaurant is delightful Would never ever go back to that bar again because of the disgraceful attitude of the doormen! Jobsworth!

Really nice venue and great ambience! Service can be quite slow as it can be really busy! Advise to book in advance

Bento boxes unavailable so ordered a selection of 6 small dishes. 4 of them that awful we didn't finish half the plate, I've never ate such bland and heavy sushi Staff friendly and helpful, decor is beautiful but would never eat here again especially for the prices that are charged

Not very impressed. Tried Ordering 3 different cocktails off the menu but none were available which seems strange for a bar so ended up with a drink I didn't really want. Waitress was very miserable. We were sat in the porch bit but It was raining outside and the water was dripping on our heads which isn't good. When you're paying top prices for drinks you expect a top service. Wouldn't bother returning. On a positive note it was lovely and warm inside.

Very central but also quiet. We didnt eat but a mix of Asian/Continental dishes. Kind service. I think worth a visit anytime.

Nice place, was seated inside upstairs, not all heaters were working so a little uncomfortable but still a nice place to have a drink, prices OK.

We had afternoon tea with the wine and frozen cocktail. Was lovely and worth the money. The sides also were very good value what my 2 year old grandson had. All in all was 5star and will def return .

Great place…. Food really nice…. Great drinks…… would have loved a larger cocktail menu and a bigger vegan food selection…… but well worth a visit!
