Very bizarre firm Website claims to have over 450 staff across the country yet when I called up to use their services was told by a very flustered receptions to give my details and would get a call back when the team we’re not busy ‘tied up with clients” However I did not receive a call back, just an email to say they couldn’t take on my case as they were too busy. Professional, clear, fast, reasonably priced. I used Stephensons as my solicitors when I sold my flat in Manchester. I was impressed with their service from start to finish. This was the first time I had sold a property, and the process was made very clear to me. They kept me up to date with the progress of the sale, including dealing with the additional factor of dealing with the management company running my flat. The sale of the property was as swift and easy as it could have possibly been. Stephensons were always very professional and informative, and their rates were competitive too. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

We are currently in a chain with the bottom of the chain using these guys.... We were meant to complete on Friday but the solicitor decided to go on holiday and not pass on any work! Still not exchanged!

Absolutely horrendous, obstructive and awkward anything they can do to slow the process down they are doing. sending letters by post instead of email which isn't reaching other solicitor for nearly a week. one house sell no chain, 25 year old house with no real issues so far over 2 months with no end in sight who knows how long this will go on for. Now reported to ombudsman. Avoid at all cost.

Nothing short of disgusting! They don't even deserve a one star. They were recommended by my mortgage advisor (who has also cut ties with these people now). Brough a flat 2 years ago Stephenson failed to notify the landlord of the sale, as a result I have been landed with a £3000 bill! I got fobbed off for days. Eventually they sent an email saying they are not liable, eventhough it was clearly as a result of thier incompetence. Please do not go anywhere near these unprofessional unethical cowboys.

For over 3 years these were my solicitors .. the day before my trial my barrister was changed ... the day of my trial my court was changed from Leeds to Bradford .. the new barrister took no advice from our expert and thus I was found guilty .. not only that, this being my first ever conviction I was unaware of anything relating court or prison, I was given no forward notice of a possible jail sentence on the day of conviction and turned up to a court miles away with nothing but my usual things and a car parked in a pay carpark.. no clothes .. no medication I was on . no extra clothes .. no power of attorney for my bank accounts etc .. not only this, the evidence that was provided was cropped (screen shot) images with no physical evidence or such and they never even questioned this .. I felt like they took my money "15k£ +" and hung me out to dry ! .. AVOID ! I can also add details passed to the police and my solicitor regarding a hard drive encryption password was advised in court as I was lying .. yet when i checked my interview script I gave the correct info and when after my prison sentence I got my equipment back I also checked this and found it to be correct ,, I also sent this to Stephensons and heard nothing back , on top of the police officer prosecuting actually lying in court and nothing being said I would advise to AVOID!!... I would like to add Martin was great up until the court appearance Hence the 2 star .. so i am unsure where the breakdown occurred ? Here’s the interview… As you can see capital “I”np0ut03 And from my saved password on my pc that I checked How come both the police and our “expert” could not unlock this drive ? Yet I type it in and it unlocks? It pisses me off as the judge / prosecution both said I tried to mislead / hinder the investigation … yet as shown I did nothing as the sort ? Do not go anywhere near these Solicitors! This is the worst experience I’ve had in 35 years of buying and selling houses. A straightforward Buy-to-Let took almost a year to complete. Communication, professionalism and mis-representation is a small sample of the problems we’ve had. Due to their delays, my mortgage offers expired THREE times which cost me over £500.00. In addition to this, the loss of collecting rent for at least 6 months is disgraceful. They deserve NO STARS at all!

I should have read the reviews first, then I wouldn't have wasted time getting in contact with them in the first place. I filled in their online enquiry form outlining the details of a data breach and received an email on 4th May 2021 requesting that I send even further documents within 14 days. Then today 5th May 2021, I received another email from them stating that they have too much workload so won't be able to assist. So why did they urgently need my documents within 14 days then if they had too much workload? Seems like a data mining scam.

Absolutely shambolic from start to finish. No care taken over our case (conveyancing) every time we rang to get an update they made us feel like we were being unreasonable and wasting their time. The receptionist was often rude and our solicitor didn't seem to know what she was doing. They would frequently ignore our emails only to email back a few days later with a set of questions/demands for information and made no reference to the unanswered questions that we asked. When challenged on this (happening continuously) we did not receive an apology just the excuse that 'they are very busy' really not good enough when we are paying them a large amount of money to work for us. I can understand being busy but I don't think any other industry would accept being to busy to answer your clients/customers questions. We were not emailing them every day or difficult questions that it would take a moment to answer (if they knew their jobs as they should). They would frequently lie to us about what the estate agent had said, this was strange as we were also in contact with the estate agents, at first we considered it may have been accidental or simply a mistake, however at one point we were cc'd into an email so we could see what the estate agent had said and could see that they intentionally lied to us. When this was bought up via email (as they were never available by phone) they ignored the email. They also tried to include stamp duty for us to pay towards the end of the sale which we had to point out first time buyers don't pay, either they were being slap dash and overlooked this or being inept and forgot this either way absolutely terrible service and a terible experience. I have honestly never received service this bad in my life anywhere. I am completely baffled as to how they are still in business and cannot stress enough how much I recommend using anyone else. I have left it over 3 months to write this review to give myself time to cool off and look at it calmly and see if I still felt as strongly as I do. My only regret is some people may have engaged them in the last few months without the benefit of this advice. Do not use this company the three people we dealt with during out 7 month saga were all completely useless.

Called and emailed multiple times. Never got through. It's been some months as well.
