5/ 5

I am very grateful to Eva Constantine and all the team at Smile for helping me out with a dental issue at short notice. My filling had cracked and my tooth was fractured, causing some pain, and they sorted me out with a new filling and a hygienist appointment. Everyone was very kind, attentive and skilled. The pricing is very fair too.

The lady at the reception is unprofessional and rude. The clinic charges £20 for a missed appointment, even though the fee is not listed anywhere on the website, in any of the documents given to the patients nor was it mentioned in any conversation. Back in June 10th I was at the clinic for the routine check-up and cleaning. Afterwards I went to the reception to book another appointment 4-5 months later. The receptionist was mumbling and did not face me when she was speaking to me, which made it very hard to understand what she was saying. I asked her to write down the date of the appointment on a piece of paper, to which she replied that she did not have any and that she is busy. I asked her to, instead, send me a text message with the date, to which she agreed. Said text message never came, which made me assume that perhaps the appointment was not booked. Lo and behold, the standard reminder arrives in my inbox the day before the appointment. Unfortunately, it was my last day at work and I would not be able to make it (very busy making sure I hand over everything I was working on so that the business can run smoothly), of which I have informed the clinic. I tried to negotiate the fee that I was not informed about beforehand. The receptionist's responses were condescending and impolite. EDIT: Since there is no other way to respond, I will do it here. Answers my questions? What questions - I had none. Ad 1. A direct consequence of the clinic not following through with the agreement nonetheless. Ad 2. Not only did I read the text message past the clinic's working hours, I did not know of any such fee. I would have at least tried to call, had I not felt let down. Ad 3. Do you honestly believe that the patients should read every note on the clinic's premises instead of relying on the clinic's website or the documents provided by the clinic or the text messages sent by the clinic? Ad 4. Of course I did not pay. My failure to show up was a direct consequence of the clinic's failure to send the appointment details on the day of the booking as per the agreement.
