I don't often bother posting reviews, but I felt that the recent negative reviews were unfair (especially 18 months into a pandemic, which must be a very challenging time for a hotel business). We stayed last night & i had checked out the reviews a couple of days beforehand, many of which weren't great. But I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were all lovely & really helpful without exception. They upgraded our room & gave us a slightly later checkout time. The food was simple but delicious, good quality & cooked perfectly. Yes maybe some of the decor is ready for a freshen up, but this didn't affect our stay. The building is stunning. It is a shame that the pool & jacuzzi are closed, but this seems beyond their control. It would be good if they let you know this at the time of booking, rather than in the email confirmation. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Good quality food and friendly staff. Bedrooms particularly superior room are excellently furnished except no switch for bed lights. Useful if outside signage mentioned it's a hotel and Spa. Prices including bar and food very comparable. Beautiful setting.

Beautiful place. We had the pleasure to stay here for a wedding, what a fantastic day. It was really well organised and the location was stunning. Our bedroom was fabulous huge bed, lovely bathroom and there was a nice little sofa. The icing on top was definitely the little balcony, it would be a great place to sit with a glass of something fizzy. Unfortunately we spent the evening dancing so no chance to enjoy the view. A return visit is definite.

Me and my partner enjoyed our stay here, we stayed in room 25 which was lovely and bigger than we expected. We also found the dinner and breakfast really good. The only slight downside was that we were originally hoping to use the spa during our stay but the pool was out of use and when we had tried to book treatments prior to our stay no one would get back to us despite several attempts. I feel like they could have mentioned the fact the pool was not working at reception on arrival or make it clearer on their website.

What a disappointment!!! The hotel is truly stunning, Tudor features and beautiful grounds. Pool out of action which wasn’t communicated to us. Spa near impossible to book, because of availability of stuff. No treatment available on a Sunday. We stayed in a standard double - very standard and not worth the price we payed. Carpets very grim and could do with a deep clean. No fridge and poor water pressure. Food was a really disappointment very salty!!!! Very bland wine list and very overpriced. Breakfast buffet very simple and no option of cold meats and cheese. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I don’t feel this stay has been great and wouldn’t book again. Shame really as the hotel features and ground are beautiful.
