As a guest at a wedding I have to say this was a superb venue! I do not remember it being so nice here but me and my family were so impressed. Staff could not be nicer and the gardens were a huge surprise! We managed to get fabulous photos in what we called * the secret garden* highly recommend a visit! Staff so welcoming.

Absolutely disgusted with their service. Paid for passport application to be checked. Tried numerous times to book an appointment with them taking my contact details to arrange it. No call back. Only after speaking to manager I managed to book it. A day after they called back to cancel it and told me to go to PO as according to them I didn't need one. Asked for a refundable refund only to be told that a fee is non-refundable. What a bunch of unorganized and unprofessional people!

Getting married is one of the most important things anyone can do in their life, it’s also one of the most exciting. My wife to be and I love York and it holds very special memories for us. So when the question of “where shall we get married” was raised the answer was very obvious. Unfortunately after three separate phone calls and been told someone would phone us back..... nobody ever did. Such a disappointment...... we have now booked to be married at Oulton Hall in Rothwell who’s Marriage Coordinator “Caroline” was so helpful and courteous. York Register Office....... 1/10, poor customer service and zero help. Appauling!

The idiocy of this office is absolutely staggering. Registering a child's birth has never been so difficult, due to a registrar's (surely a learned person?) inability to spell and inabiility to take simple instruction. This is reinforced by their colleagues inability to correct nonsensical mistakes, and has resulted in completely unnecessary payment from me rather than simple admittance and correction of their own shortcomings. They are the new barometer of incompetence and stupidity in our household. "Corrrrr that was stupid wasn't it!" "It's ridiculously idiotic, but it's not quite York Registry Office." "That's at least a 7 out of 10 on the York Registry Office scale of stupidity!" "It's so easy, even the staff at York Registry Office would be able to do it!" I would highly recommend people avoid having to deal with this office at all costs, if possible. If you can marry elsewhere, do it. If you can give birth within another district, do it. All the hard work of local NHS staff undone by the unfathomable incompetence of this office. If I could give them negative stars, I would.

We carry out regular maintenance at the registry office (JLR Roofing & property maintenance) & can say it's always a pleasure dealing with the staff there. Always there to help with any questions we may have. Great place with great staff!
