Sign upon entering states to wait to be seated. Three members of staff (1 female, two male) were behind the counter, none of them making eye contact towards the waiting area and just laughing among themselves. We waited... And waited... For one of them to acknowledge that we had entered the establishment. Nothing. Another couple entered, still no acknowledgement. Finally looked up, mumbled a comment and thought they'd finally come over but nope, remained where they were when the store wasn't busy at all. The lack of acknowledgement was incredibly rude and eventually we left the shop without even being shown to our seats. We remained outside for a while to find another tea shop and the couple behind us were receiving the same rubbish (lack of) service. Staff need vigorous training because their indifference to paying customers will lose the business money - it definitely lost ours.

A warm welcome. Great helpful and friendly staff. Excellent food and drink. Be mindful the toilets are upstairs for those of us less mobile. Overall a fantastic experience. I would recommend.

Ok, so it is quite expensive. Two coffees, a childrens hot chocolate (that was only £1) and 3 slices of cake came to just under £19. The cake slices, at almost a fiver a pop, weren't very big, and whilst not the moistest gateau I've ever had, they hit the spot after our visit to the Viking centre when we just needed a sit down and a boost. The staff were super friendly and really helpful. The restaurant itself was pleasant too. There was ample toilets including disabled facilities. We were immediately seated and presented with activity sheets for the kids to do whilst we waited. Really family friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone who isn't on a tight budget.

Not as nice as it used to be. One waitress seemed to be doing all of the running around ( a real asset ) while the other 2, a man and a woman talked behind the counter. Cake was soggy and tea had weird floaty bits in it. Wont be going back. Shame, cause it used to be lovely.
