IT facilities are good, however customer service has to be improved. Twice I have now experienced poor customer service from two separate members of staff. The first time, a few months back, I enquiried about my username to log onto the computer. I was having difficulty logging on and I approached a member of staff three times and asked her if I was putting the username in correctly, she said yes and her answers became quite short. I continued to have trouble logging on until another service user sitting next to me informed me that you don't input the first two letters of your username! The member of staff did not inform me of this. She was too busy trying to have a conversation with another member of staff! The second time involved me trying to print out a document. I arrived at the library 20 mins before it was due to shut and was told that I had very little time to print off as the computers automatically shut down 15 mins before closing. The manner in which I was told was one of disdain, the staff member gave me the impression I was inconveniencing HER. I quickly managed to print off my document before the computer switched off and I was given the impression by the member of staff that they were not happy I had even attempted to do it! I would like to point out that the library website does at no point inform users of this automatic switch off 15 mins before closing. I don't think it's unreasonable for a service user to think that the computers would still be accessible up until closing time. In fact a lady came in 10 mins before closing asking if she could print off but was told no. Please make this automatic switch off known to customers on your website.
