I would like to know how a business like M & S in a hospital environment can sell sandwiches that are out of date. I was at a meeting at this hospital today and bought a chicken sandwich! After I had eaten half of it I happened to look at the date on the sandwich and it was out of date by a day! I was visiting a hospital, I really did not want to perhaps by eating an out of date chicken sandwich be a patient!! This was the M & S Café! I work in the healthcare arena and the lack of concentration to detail is frankly disgusting and not what I would expect from M & S. And all they did was refund me the money, no apology. Can you imagine if I was a venerable person who ended up with food poisoning, I called their customer services but they just cut me off!!! Shame on you M & S, especially in a hospital environment, Surely you check the sell by dates? Obviously not!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very angry with M & S for their lack of care and diligence! Come on, its not difficult to remove the out of date sandwiches off the shelf before you open in the morning!! Disgusted with you. Thanks for the £4 back, lets hope I don't end up with food poisoning from the out of date chicken!, or you could be facing a much larger bill!!!
Rude and unpleasant service in the restaurant although lots of staff. Unfortunately staff are preoccupied by complaining about their work and customers. Food overpriced and undercooked, great place for food borne stomach infections. We would not recommend this restaurant.
Just been and asked for a Cortado Coffee and when I asked why the cup of coffee had hardly any milk in it and it was not like I had had for the last three weeks from the same place , I was told I was wrong and if I wanted a coffee with a little more milk then I should have asked for a flat white . She could have said no problem I will put a little more milk in . Instead she made an argument out of it and made me feel like I was wrong. If that girl is there again I will not go back
Good for quick snacks, one confusing thing is the shop sells socks, PJ's and very strangely table runners which if your in hospital is highly useful :(
Excellent food - really makes the food for visitors to the JR (and staff) something special.
Would like to make a reference on the opening time, as in the website say the service starts from 6:00 am, when at that time still close or its when just the staff started to do the set-up of the cafe...
The coffee's great, the hot cross buns too. However they'd do well to focus a little more on the state of the seating area. On the day we visited most of the tables were sticky with spills and the floor crunchy with crumbs.
Not always the best section but very handy at times of need.
Why can't you serve a cup of hot water so that I can make a ginger tea? Couldn't even give me a takeaway cup of hot water as NOT ALLOWED. What about some customer service??
