This is Aberdeen's oldest Hotel. It is 4 storeys high so there are a lot of stairs to climb if you have a room at the top floor. Only one lift and because of social distancing rules only one person at a time is allowed to use it, and one household at a time. Because it is old, it has all the original features. Beautiful stained glass windows and lovely arches and staircases. Our room was the top floor and we had a beautiful view of the City going all the way to the Sea. Only one little moan I have is the sauce sachets for the food. The sauce is not very nice. The staff are all very nice and helpful though. They are doing their very best throughout this pandemic.

Cannot praise this hire highly enough. The guy on the front desk was super helpful and really chatty. Gave us a fantastic room overlooking the redeveloping gardens and the breakfast was great. Perfect price. Honestly, a nice change from some of the independents we’d stayed in recently where it felt like they’d lost the Will to be bothered. Not at the Mercure - truly fabulous.
