Nice little cafe spot in the middle of town, a little bit tucked away from the hustle and bustle so seating usually available both indoors and out. Nice menu not too badly priced either. Not an extraordinary spot for coffee and cake but pretty good nonetheless.

I suppose I would give this reading of about 3 and a half stars primarily because of its rather small size and few exhibits. However the Architecture of the great hall was very interesting period 600 years ago when they built the Great Hall they didn't have trees long enough to span the entire width period therefore they had to have a double roof system 4 The Great Hall. We did enjoy learning more about the Merchant Guilds and how they were formed. It was also interesting to see that the original floor was 1 and 1/2 metres below the current floor. That is because of recurring flooding the floors have been raised over time . The garden was a nice break from the crush of people in the streets. We had a lovely scone and cup of tea in the garden .

I only had a light lunch at the cafe here so my review is for that, the food was very nice and the staff were polite and very pleasant. There was plenty of seats inside for eating but I sat outside in the beautiful gardens whilst the sun was shining. I did however use the toilets and I saw a glimpse of the hall and it is worthy of a visit another time.

A very interesting visit. The supplied audio guide was very informative, plus information boards in case you didn't have the audio guide. Very big and spacious inside. It doesn't look.much, but there's alot of history behind this building.

I had my wedding reception at Merchant's Adventurer's Hall in September and it was incredible! The setting is absolutely beautiful and definitely made the wedding. The gardens and the hall itself are second to none in York. Rob helped us with the initial viewing and booking and he was so helpful with all the questions we had and recommending caterers! Nothing was too much trouble for him! I would definitely recommend here for a wedding!
