Although this place may be a little over priced considering the budget places nearby. You definitely get your money's worth. The rooms are quite spacious, with a large shower and comfortable beds. The service was quite good, with the receptionist giving us some extra milk "just in case we wanted and extra coffee in the morning." Don't expect a kitchen, or washing facilities in your room as this is neither a hotel nor motel. But with a fridge, freezer, microwave, and decent shower, (plus a toaster), this place really exceeds expectations. We are a family of 8, and have pretty high expectations, and this place ticked all the boxes. We'll be staying here again.

My husband and I have stayed at The Matilda Motor Inn over the Easter break for almost 10 years now. Unfortunately, since the new managers have taken over the friendly service and cleanliness of the rooms has gone downhill. Amanda on the front desk was unsmiling and rude from the moment I walked into the front office to check in and her attitude didn't change for the whole 4 days we were there. We parked in front of reception as we've done in previous years when all of the carparks were full, normally a park will free up within an hour or so and we move the car. Amanda came out of the office and snapped that we couldn't park in front of reception, when we asked where we could park she said told us that she didn't know and to park out on the street. Our car being a classic is NOT something we want on the street and exactly the reason we pay for a room with a car park in front. While my husband searched for a free carpark around the back of the hotel Amanda proceeded to call me and then corner me in the room to snap at me further that the car hadn't been moved. The room which was always very clean in previous year had multiple cockroaches crawling on the walls and in the bathroom. The tap in the bathroom had clearly been leaking for a while as there was a water stain on both the chrome of the tap and basin and not sure why the grate from the plug hole was missing all together. The bottom of one the bed bases was falling apart. Unfortunately, we needed to check out before reception opened so I was unable to have a conversation with Amanda on these issues in person, so I called later that day to provide feedback and have a discussion but unsurprisingly I was offered no apology and an attitude as she quickly hung up. Very disappointed that what was once our favourite place to stay in Dubbo, now reminds me of Faulty Towers.
