I want to thank and commend the man at York, UK Hertz office. He is ex-army but I can’t recall his name. I dropped my car a day early in York instead of London and this man could not have been more helpful. He was fast and extremely courteous. He even gave me walking directions to the train station that saved me 10 min. I know he is the Mgr there. FIVE THIS MAN A RAISE! He is a true value to your company. Tell him STEVE CATER from Texas says thanks

Waited a real long time before getting my car, got a late return fee of 10 quids while I returned the car 15 minutes before the expected time, and I am still waiting to see my refund. I won't bother to return there :-(.

The place is not easily locatable by map. It is about 150 yards down from York Railway Museum on the right down on Leeman Road from the train station. The person working there (Jon) was very helpful and knowledgable. Book online in advance to avoid high onsite costs. Options are not as extensive as you'd find at an airport, but decent with plenty of parking. They also have off hours return lot, it behind Railway Museum. Apparently, the place is planned to undergo significant changes, so call them for exact location if you visit in 2020 or later.

We were so disappointed in the poor support and service at the York, Hertz Rent-a-Car. For starters, they gave away the car we reserved which was a smaller automatic. Since we are not from the UK, we seldom drive on the left so we wanted a smaller automatic, which we had reserved through our travel agent in the US. Because of this, we were given a "whale" of a vehicle, an 8-seat Mercedes van which was ridiculous for 2 people. The company knew we were going to be driving through narrow streets in Yorkshire villages. Also, we were told to fill the vehicle before returning it, but we were not given any idea of where to do this. We returned the van a day early because of the stress it caused trying to maneuver this monstrous vehicle through crowded York during a bank holiday. We were also not given directions to where to drop the van off Hertz was closed. All in all, it was a terrible experience. We had a wonderful experience renting a car from Enterprise and we will continue to use their company when we return to the UK>

Really nice place to rent a car, easy to find with a massive car park. The staff are friendly and helpful and both checking out the car and returning it are easy and quick. The car I recieved was clean and well maintained and a joy to drive! And issues just call the branch and they are extremely helpful.
