A quality hotel less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of Cambridge. We had a superior room and it was very good, beautifully furnished and in first class condition, as is the rest of the hotel. The complimentary ride in the Bentley was a lot of fun and highly recommended. The Cotto restaurant is first class, not cheap but outstanding in quality. Why it does not have a Michelin star is beyond me. The evening set menu is around £70 per person. The only minor negative is that the breakfast service is a bit haphazard and maintenance workers and other hotel staff wandering through the dining area is not the best atmosphere. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this luxury hotel.

By far the most pleasing element of our stay was speaking with Gonville Hotel staff, all of whom were authentically friendly, informative and eager to please. Our room was clean and luxurious and the bed very comfortable. My young son and I enjoyed the excellent complimentary vintage car tour of the city, provided by Elliot ... who was profusely knowledgeable. We also appreciated the complimentary tandem bicycles, which the hotel made available for both days of our stay. We would unreservedly recommend the hotel to other guests seeking a luxury, boutique hotel in central Cambridge.

We had a late lunch at the Atrium Brasserie before enjoying the outdoor cinema at the weekend and it was faultless. Our server at lunch Cherese was lovely, accommodating and had a great sense if humour. The outdoor cinema ran like clockwork and was an enjoyable evening with a bar and nibbles. Will 100percent be returning to eat in the restaurant and make use of the fabulous spa that we discovered

Spent the night at the Gonville hotel for our first wedding anniversary. Wonderful hotel with lovely staff. The rooms were clean and spacious with all the amenities you could need. My husband and I treated ourselves to a couples massage at the spa which was very relaxing. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel with excellent customer service. Great breakfast, special hot meal made for us as vegans, also oat milk both at breakfast and in our room for hot drinks! Can't fault the room and enjoyed a good spa treatment. Ideally situated to see Cambridge and close to the railway station. Can highly recommend.

We went for dinner here in the outside tent and I have never experienced a) such bad service and attitude from waiters or b) such bad food. We were served chips and salad along with very thin slices of meat we had to cook ourselves, needless to say the hot food was cold by the time the meat was cooked. The meat was plain with no flavour, I may as well have stayed home and cooked my own dinner rather than being charged to do it for myself in a restaurant. The waiters rolled their eyes when we asked if we could order drinks and then again when we asked if they could clear the glasses and bottles that had collected throughout the meal and they hadn’t cleared yet. Don’t go here if you want to go out for a nice cooked meal, you could do better at home!

Sadly a case of fur coat and no knickers. Being a younger guest of only in my twenties and paying my own bill of in excess of £600. Maybe a bit more respect would have been nice as I could have been a regular guest for the next 30 years. My advice pay attention to the details
