Had an awful experience in the Edge Lane store yesterday shopping with my son for his birthday cloth
Had an awful experience in the Edge Lane store yesterday shopping with my son for his birthday clothes. Firstly there was an unfriendly atmosphere when we entered, not a good start for any customer (I had taken my coat off just before we arrived because I was hot and placed it over my arm, I feel this is relevant) So we started shopping and everywhere we went the same store assistant was right behind us. I notice as we were moving around the shop to the point were I was thinking what's going on? When we got to the changing rooms they were locked (that's fine) but different store assistant came over to open the door, no eye contact no friendliness! Nothing!... while my son was trying on his clothes I noticed the first store assistant who had been following us 'tidying' up around us again so feeling upset about this I told her we were not shoplifters and she could clearly see I was upset about this. I also said that she had followed us around the store and I also work in retail and knew what she was doing and I repeated I was not a shoplifter. She answered back with something similar to well if you're in retail you'll know we have our department to look after. Her department seemed to be the whole blinking shop!!! Where we happened to be. She was plain and simply rude. She walked away then and started talking about me to other work mates at the front of the store. I just wanted to go but my son had found clothing and shoes he wanted so I paid for them and we left. I was very upset and felt shaken. My son was concerned because I'm insulin diabetic and the experience shook me up so much that when we went into Halfords to get his bike the store assistant gave me a sugary drink because my blood sugars had dropped. (Brilliant service in Halfords by the way) I will never set foot in any of the Drome stores again. I spent a few hundred yesterday only for the sake of my boy. I will be putting in an official complaint when I call their head office in the morning.
