Really upset after being told before off thev receptionist "if it was urgent you would take it " I've been trying to get an appointment for my 10 year old for a rash on scalp, every time I ring its 2 weeks wait, I'm told to ring at 8am for an emergency appointment, which now it is getting worse and I'm worried her hair is falling out /its thining, so I rang st 8.05 expecting to be given a call back by triage for an emergency morning appointment, but was told come in at 4.45 , I have am appointment at children's mental health with my other child that clashes, that I fought for 2 years to get, I said I couldn't make it and the receptionist said "if it was an emergency you would "
This I felt was rude and judgemental I expressed that I felt that she was suggesting that I was being dishonesty about the nature of my daughters need to he seen .
Not ones did she ask me what the problem was .
I feel that this doctors is over booked /not able to meet the demand of "normal appointments " then my illness or children's becomes an emergency because I've ovee the counter medicated for 2 weeks , tried to get am appointment for 1 week and no say cam wait another 2 weeks that's 5 weeks
I feel staff should pause before behaving in a ride judge mental way , saying things like she did is a behaviour and I dont think its acceptable behaviour for anyone to speak to othees in a judgemental way, let alone doctors receptionist, I suffer from anxiety and currently going through some difficult times, when I ring "people who are supposed to help me and my children " I expect to be spoken to compassionately!
Also If by 8.05 , in the space of 5 minuets all the emergency appointments are gone this shows that there is a problem that needs addressing ! I will have to take my daughter to the drop in at ancoats to be seen today because I cant wait 2 weeks /or succeed on getting an emergency appointment!
