A modern refurbished station with a staffed ticket office. It has shelters to sit out of the weather if required. For stations toward Southport it is necessary to use the footbridge which has steps or lift access. A toilet is available. Space is provided to drop-off passengers at the station entrance. Although there are a few steps up to the entrance there is also a ramp for prams or wheelchairs.

The lift is infuriating , it constantly breaks down and is out of order a lot of the time . It’s not fair for the disabled or people with prams , or bikes etc . As they have to turn back and go to another station . I would advise to phone the station in advance if you need the lift as it is so unreliable . Why does it breakdown so much ? Mersey Rail really need to invest in solving the actual problem instead of temporary fix and back to broken again a few days later . Also toilets seem to be out of order a lot but I think that’s down to what staff are on duty ... As certain staff break out in a cold sweat if you actually ask for any assistance or advice . I think this is the station they put Certain staff who are not good at dealing with the public or with a low work ethic as this is a quiet station but one or two are ok if your lucky .

Lift out of order, LED signs out of order. Will my train be 2 minutes or half an hour? Who knows!?!

Lift out of order, LED signs out of order. Will my train be 2 minutes or half an hour? Who knows!?! There's a random steel pen with no gate that looks like a mini wrestling ring, surrounding some glass block tiles in the floor. If this was in one of the Tory stronghold areas like Formby or Woolton, it'd be sorted, but none of Tories in the upper echelons of Merseyrail care. Staff at the ticket office are always sound.
