We just had a drink before the journey home. Warm cider was delicious and the house red was a nice wine. The decor and furniture were a bit basic but the place had a good atmosphere. Staff were quick to serve at the bar and they cleared the empty glasses quickly. Next time we are in Brighton, we might eat here.

We came here as we’d read online it was dog friendly, which they were. Me and my family had a great lunch. One of the best fish and chips I’ve had for a while! Great beer selection too.

Best Sunday Roast I've ever had! It takes about 30-40 minutes to get your food, but it's how it should be. When you get it, it's both hot and tasty. Not too mention great presentation and lots of food! This is where I now go every Sunday and I recommend it to the max!

Really great beef roast with a great selection of red wine. Friendly staff apart from the one waitress who asked for tips. Really didn't put me off of the experience as this is a solid pub and the grub really held it's own. Nice veg selection and the sides were totally worth getting.

The setting is pleasant and the music good but truthfully you are better off going next door to the Cricketers than wasting your time here. We have visited three time now hoping that each visit was just an unlucky fluke re service but have finally given up.The staff have a 'tool cool to work here' attitude. One time no wine glasses available. Wine poured down side and base of glass but not wiped or apologised. Kept waiting while server makes and tastes her coffee.

Historical pub located on the aptly named Black Lion Street. Unique design from the outside resembling the fishing huts you find in Hastings. It is however quite modern on the inside.

Great afternoon with friends at the Black Lion in the outside seating area, nice and warm with the heaters but don't bother with the sharing platters 3 slices of baguette for a full camambere doesn't cut it guys and neither do the all on nachos at £17 Food overpriced and poor quality especially the sharers but the drinks were fine and atmosphere good hence the 4 stars Improve your menu if you want to charge a premium
